The experience continues in Teotitlán del Valle, a Zapotec town famous for its textile art. Here you will not only observe, but you will have a close encounter with a family of local artisans who will open the doors of their home. You will learn about its ancestral process of pedal loom weaving, the elaboration of natural dyes and the cultural significance behind each design. Luis took us on a private tour of Hierve de Agua. The site itself is stunning. But Luis also gave us a nice explanation of the historical and geological significance of the area. While on the trip, we also saw the world's largest ( in circumference) tree, a hieroglyph visible from the highway, and a textile studio. We also had time for shopping. Since we were a small party, Luis was happy to adjust the agenda to meet our needs. Overall, a 5 star excursion.
