What To Expect

We offer pickup from the hotel. After that, we will have a welcome drink of tea or coffee. We will explain about the spices and vegetables. You can choose what to make as a curry and you can cut and chop the vegetables. We will teach you how to cook it. Finally, you can eat the meal.

This was an outstanding experience. We made 12 (!) dishes using lots of local spices and vegetables we’d never seen before. The outcome was delicious. But what’s even more important, it was extremely hands on. The kids (ages 15, 13 and 12) got to fry popadoms, create coconut shavings, chop veggies, crush spices and be guided throughout by the kind, warm and patient cook. We came out with full bellies, ear to ear smiles and a bible of recipes. We’ll never forget this!

What a fantastic activity from start to finish. I had doing a Sri Lankan cooking on my list of things to do and it coincided with a very rainy day so the perfect way to spend a wet day in Kandy (or a dry day!!) We were picked up and taken to the market, always a great thing to see especially first hand. Then back to our hosts house which is such a lovely personal touch to use someone actual kitchen. We cooked 10 different dishes, amazing to see what goes into each dish and what a feast we knocked up. The food was amazing ❤️ What a great day out

One of the best Food we eat in Sri Lanka . Lots of Meals you can easily cook at home with non special sri Lanka ingredients. We had a lots of fun. I definitely recommend the cooking class !

This cooking class was an incredible experience! The host picked me up from my hotel right on time, and we started the morning with a visit to the local market to buy fresh ingredients. Then we went to the kitchen for the class, where I learned about Sri Lankan spices, ingredients, and traditional cooking methods. We took lots of photos and videos throughout the process, and at the end, I received all the recipes to try at home. The experience was fun, authentic, and full of flavor — and the meal we shared was honestly the best food I’ve had in Sri Lanka! Highly recommend it to anyone visiting.

I sent two Time to the cooking class Cause they are so great people ans the courses are fantastic I spend a good Time and I learn about 20 dishes during the courses Im a chef Cook so I know if they are good or not This people love cooking and you can feel that Even they help me to find buses ans trains They are so wonderfull…!!!

My friend and I loved the cooking class. We were able to choose the schedule that we could arrange. We were picked up from our hotel, we went shopping at the market, we went to cook and then we were dropped off back at the hotel. It kept us busy on a rainy day. We were very well received, they let us cut vegetables and explained the spices to put,... We ate the huge meal we all prepared, it was exquisite.

We had a truly great experience cooking with Ranees and Chandrika! It all started with a visit to the market, picking out fresh ingredients, and then preparing and watching the magic unfold in the kitchen. The result? Absolutely delicious dishes, without a doubt the best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka so far. When visiting Kandy, this is an absolute must-do experience. We would recommend it to everyone! Thank you Ranees & Chandrika for all the valuable tips and we’ll definitely try to recreate a Sri Lankan dinner once we’re back in The Netherlands.

I can honestly say that this was the highlight of our time in Kandy! We were met in the crazy Kandy Market to choose our ingredients before being warmly welcomed into our host’s home. Knives and chopping boards before us we set about preparing about 7 different authentic Sri Lankan dishes all the while our host explained the spices and how to cook it. At the end we enjoyed our delicious creations and enjoyed interesting discussion. Would heartily recommend.
