Morning departure from Amman south towards Petra in a modern, air conditioned vehicle driven by one of our professional English speaking drivers. Arriving 3 hours later to explore Jordan's best known attraction and the UNESCO World Heritage site. Petra, the Rose-Red City, was the impressive capital of the Nabataean kingdom, whose ruins remained hidden to most of the world until the Swiss explorer, JL Burckhardt, disguised as an Arab scholar, infiltrated the city in 1812. It is a one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Walk down the Siq, a long, winding sandstone canyon that leads to the impressive Treasury. Explore the city, including the Street of Facades, the Roman Theater and the Royal Tombs. Depart Petra towards Wadi Rum.
Wadi Rum Protected Area
Wadi Rum has recently been inscribed by UNESCO as a new World Heritage Site displaying unique natural beauty and cultural significance. Inhabited since prehistoric times, it owes its current fame to Lawrence of Arabia, who spent time there during the Arab Revolt of 1916 against the Ottomans. It is Jordan's largest desert and one of the most impressive desert landscapes in the world. From the terrain, flora, and fauna, the sites, and the culture of the local Bedouins, there is much to be seen and experienced in Rum, whether it be on a jeep tour, camel trek, hiking or even on a hot-air balloon ride. Arrive to your camp in the middle of the desert. Dinner and overnight.

All the transfers were seamless, and we knew at all times what would happen next. We both agreed that the day at Petra + Wadi Rum was the best day of our 10-day trip spanning Crete/Jordan/Egypt.

Don't be scared to visit Jordan. We are an American family of 4 with two young children (7) and (4) and we felt so safe, special, and taken care of during our whole visit. So many people in USA told us not to go, and we are so happy we did not listen to anyone as we learned the media makes us feel or think one thing and it is just not true, and what we experienced was beyond what we ever dreamed. For us, visiting Jordan was more than seeing the beautiful sights of Petra, Wadi-Rum and Dead-Sea, but it was a life-changing cultural and spiritual experience we never expected. This was truly thanks to having a guide that touched our lives and made us feel like family. His name was Nabil and he should be given the world's best tour guide. We have had many guides in our life as my husband and I have traveled to over 50 countries and this was by far the best experience we have ever had been provided by a tour guide. From the big things to the smallest details, Nabil always put our family's needs first. I looked forward to long car rides with Nabil and loved his storytelling. I felt I was watching a movie while listening to him. Nabil will never be forgotten by our family and we hope others can enjoy what we experienced by visiting Jordan and being lucky enough to have him as a guide. Jordan has beautiful sites, incredible five star hotels, and unique experiences (such as staying in the desert and star-gazing in Wadi-rum, hikes in Petra, floating in the Dead-Sea, snorkeling in Aquba, and incredible dinner venues). Travelers need to put it on their bucket list.
