Our tour guides Sylvie and Michel were genuinely nice people and tried to give us a tour. The problem is that they both spoke Portuguese and only a few words of English. We went to many places but did not know what we were seeing, with the exception of 2 or 3 facts shown to us through Google translate. We did not learn and history, facts or information about this beautiful region. They picked us up late, were unable to locate where the van was parked in Provence and poor time management led to us missing the final 3 stops in Marseille. It was such a beautiful area and had the potential to be the highlight of our vacation. It is just unfortunate that we were given guides that were unable to communicate with us and give us the tour as promised.

Nice trip overall, a good tour guide and a nice exploration for the 3 locations within the area. We were visiting on Sunday morning so it wasn’t crowded and too many shops were closed.

Although the start of our tour was not good, it ended up being an unforgettable experience! Our original assigned driver was a now show, but the company sent a replacement, who arrived there 40 minutes after our tour was supposed to start. That added a level of stress that I didn't need on my vacation, but Greg promised to make up for it, and so we embarked on our tour. We drove 40 minutes to Aix en Provence, there, we visited the cathedral, walked around the city center, got some peaches from the market in la place and got some pastries at Weibel at the recommendation of our guide. We also did some shopping in some unique stores, and our group of 6 adults, we all concluded that this is a place we would like to return and explore more of. Our second stop was Cassis. We first went up the mountain to get some absolutely breathtaking views of the towns and marina. We then drove down to the town walked around through the stores and another market at la place. Got some lunch at a local restaurant, took some beautiful pictures and enjoyed the beach atmosphere of the town. There were many references around both cities to "The Little Prince" since Antoine de Saint Exupery is from that area of France. We then went back to our ship. We decided to skip the visit to Marseille itself in favor of more time in Aix and Cassis.
