Due to the immense popularity the Bio Bay tour, at times can get crowded. It’s not uncommon to meet up with other tour groups waiting to access the canal leading to the lagoon. There can be bumping other kayaks along the way. When crowded conditions warrant, Pure Adventure will provide extra guides for your safety.
Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year round. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary from minimal no very bright suddenly.
In order to best appreciate the bioluminescent phenomena our tours run at sunset and early evening and it can get quite dark in the mangrove canal. So, if you are afraid of darkness, a first time kayaker, or have small kids we strongly suggest taking the earlier, sunset trip. This way you can see where you are going, get use to the environment and sharpen your kayaking skills
Our offices are closed on SUNDAYS - Reservations made Saturday after 5 pm will not be revised until Monday at 9 am. For cancellations request during this time please send us a message through Viator.
SPECIAL NOTE: We encourage our guests to not reserve the tour on the same day of arrival to the Island. If the FLIGHT or FERRY is delayed and the guest misses the tour the guest will not be entitled to a refund or rescheduling.
TOUR TIME might change depending on sunset time. If so we will send a reminder for updated meeting time.
This tour takes place in the water. Expect to get completely wet. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. We recommend to bring a change of clothes and towel for after the trip.
Tour is not canceled in rainy days. We will get wet anyways ;)
It is the guest responsibility to read and comply with health and weight requirements. Ignorance of the requirements is not accepted as an excuse.
There are public bathrooms on-site, but they are not always in good condition. You may consider stopping in fast food before getting to the meeting site or using the bathrooms from the nearby stores/restaurants which are sometimes available.
Certain time of the year great amounts of sargassum (seaweed) arrive to our coasts. This can make paddling to feel like a workout. Also the natural decomposition odor might be unpleasant.

What a blast! Our family of five had the best time with David, Amawry, Javier, Michael and Catalina! They made the entire experience family friendly, safe, and soooo much enjoyable. They explained everything in great detail, were fevers knowledgeable and taught us so much! Highly recommend and we will definitely be coming back!

The staff (Eli, David, Javier and Yadiel) were helpful and entertaining. The experience was magical! I needed to change my reservation the day before and it was completed easily by phone.

This was such a fun and cool experience! Our group was lucky and the bililoumenses was super bright and easy to spot as we paddled through the channel into the larger bay area. All of the guides on the trp, Yadiel, Amaury, Javier, and Eli were hilarious and very helpful. Between the beautiful stars above and the cool glowing water it was an unforgettable experience.

Slightly disappointed. To many people on the tour. It would have been a better experience if they separated based on experience level. I have been kayaking for years and spent the entire time avoiding being ran into by couples that could not control their kayaks.

Don't be afraid to get wet. Listen to the guides and enjoy the moment. Weather and moon light play a part of the experience

Guides are awesome, I weigh 240 and was able to go but that is the max size and they do weigh everyone as advertised. Great experience definitely coming back in winter or summer when the glow will be better.

Even though the Bioluminescence in the bay was not visible, the kayaking was fun. The company did put a tarp over our group to try and increase our experience and the company did text me earlier in the day that the bioluminescence probably would be poor quality. They offered a 10% discount if we decided to go ahead or we could cancel free of charge. All in all it was fun kayaking to the bay.

The experience was great overall! Didn’t see too many bioluminescence, but was very scenic through mangroves. The guides were very engaging, and they understood kayakers who may have issues.
