The tour begins base nearby the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland. We start by going over the tour plan and safety instructions. From the base we cross some small rivers and head down to the black lava sands fields which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Down by the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. We then head along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. Upon our return we follow the mountain back to the base. The ATV experience itself lasts approximately 2 hours. You will ride 2 people per ATV, with one driving and one as a passenger. If you are traveling alone, or in an odd-numbered group (3, 5, 7 etc.) there is an additional charge payable locally for single riders. The adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather, so don't forget to bring your camera! You will be provided with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride. No ATV experience is required to take part and the skill level for this activity is deemed as 'easy'.

We were supposed to be in a group, but ended up just the two of us with our guide, Sindri — and it was amazing! He was incredible, and the whole experience felt safe and easy, even as a beginner. The landscapes were breathtaking, and we had such a great time. Highly recommend! Bonus: the balaclavas smelled really nice 😊

Hinrik our guide was a wonderful human. He added context to the beautiful sites we were seeing along the tour. This was a must see for us! The ATV tour allowed us to see rivers, multiple mountain sides, ocean views, and the plane wreck site. This natural beauty simply can’t be done from a bus tour or walking tour. Amazing Vik tour and I hope others book it and enjoy!

We booked a private tour and had Bjarki Bjarnason as our guide. The facility was nice and well-organized. The provided coveralls and boots were warm and comfortable. The ATVs were well maintained and easy to drive (we were rookies). Driving the quads was really fun and we were able to set our own pace. We took a break at the black sand beach and Bjarki explained how the region’s volcanic history shaped the landscape.

Crazy experience with PAWEL CIUPA. The adrenaline of the quod mixed with the curiosities he told us about the wreck and the black beach, made this activity wonderful to do ABSOLUTELY. GREETINGS FROM NAPLES DAVID & MARIA RITA

This was the most amazing tour I’ve ever done. Bjarki was the best guide. He took us to an additional stop since we had time and it was gorgeous. Felt like a e were in another planet. I could not recommend him enough. He took all of excessive amounts of photos. I would go out of my way to request him if you take this trip.

This was Fabulous! Our family loved every minute of riding ATV’s across the Black Sand Beach & over river crossings! We even got to see the old US dc3 plane relic left on the beach and learned about its history! Teen Boys loved it as did my husband! I was the princess backseat rider and enjoyed it all so much. Highly recommend!

It was my friend and I’s first time in Iceland and when we saw this as an activity, we knew we had to do it! We had the best guide Bjarki! He went above and beyond for our group with giving me extra gloves when my hands were still cold and gave my friend something to put her black sans in! The landscapes were so cool and out of this world! Would highly recommend and you get your money’s worth! Something we will never forget!
