What To Expect

The tour begins base nearby the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland. We start by going over the tour plan and safety instructions. From the base we cross some small rivers and head down to the black lava sands fields which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Down by the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. We then head along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. Upon our return we follow the mountain back to the base. The ATV experience itself lasts approximately 2 hours. You will ride 2 people per ATV, with one driving and one as a passenger. If you are traveling alone, or in an odd-numbered group (3, 5, 7 etc.) there is an additional charge payable locally for single riders. The adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather, so don't forget to bring your camera! You will be provided with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride. No ATV experience is required to take part and the skill level for this activity is deemed as 'easy'.

Absolutely amazing ATV experience! Jordy was fantastic—he explained everything clearly and made us feel comfortable and confident before we started. The ATV itself was in great condition, powerful, and easy to handle. The route was unbelievably beautiful, with stunning scenery the entire way. Riding through it felt like something out of a movie. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I’m so glad we did it. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for adventure and unforgettable views!

Sindri took us out for the morning.. what an awesome experience, he explained the land and the planes. Talked through the waves and the sands etc. He took pictures for us and was alot of fun. He checked in about the pace regularly. Absolutely brilliant

We had an amazing ATV tour with Icelandic Mountain Guides and it was one of the highlights of our trip! The route was incredibly scenic and well-paced, with a perfect mix of fun, adventure, and breathtaking views. Huge thanks to our guide, Sindiri for making this such a memorable experience. Better late than never, because this trip was amazing. Our tour guide Ásgeir highly contributed to that with his energy, enthusiasm, and sense of humour. It was a great experience and because of Ásgeir (a.k.a) Gary it was so for all age groups and experience levels. Don’t miss out on this one! The black beach is unworldly when you reach it by quad. Ásgeir also shares great stories about Iceland and all its unbelievable forces of nature.

One of the best tours I ever had. The guides are very friendly and the prettiest place I ever visited. They have UTVs and ATVs, both of them amazing experiences. They permitted the adventurers to be adventurers and the elderly to go slower. Excellent for everybody.

Jordy was an incredible guide on our trek to see the plane wreckage on the black sand beach. He was very knowledgeable about the area, history and even recommended some filming locations for us to check out. Highly recommend a tour with Jordy and we'd definitely go again!
