Itinerary:
1. Queenstown - Your tour starts in the stunning city of Queenstown. As we drive out of the city your guide will not only set the scene for your adventure today but also point out and guide you past some of the area’s top highlights.
2. Kawarau Suspension Bridge – Departing Queenstown we then make our way north through the stunning Kawarau Gorge passing beautiful views. The Kawarau Suspension Bridge and the famous Roaring Meg Lookout. Time and light permitting we will stop for that first great shot of the tour.
3. Cromwell – Exiting the Kawarau Gorge we enter the fruit and wine growing region of Cromwell. Passing huge fields of vines we cross Lake Dunstan and follow this striking lake towards Lindis Pass.
4. Lindis Pass (10 mins) – Climbing in altitude, Lindis Pass has amazing views down through the valley. Being one of only three alpine roads through the otherwise impassable Southern Alps, we stop at the Lindis Pass lookout 971m above sea level for an essential photo.
5. Omarama (30 mins) – While driving through the endless plains of the Mackenzie district we will spot several of the celebrated Merino breed of sheep before stopping at the quaint township of Omarama. While in Omarama we have time for a break or even to try the best creamy chicken pie in NZ (in our opinion)!
6. Lake Pukaki (10 mins) – Turning west we begin to enter the Aoraki National Park and Lake Pukaki begins to emerge in front of us. Lake Pukaki is one of the bluest lakes you will ever see and stunningly framed by the backdrop of Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Southern Alps. We stop for some amazing photos and to just marvel the sight that we are beholding. It’s not hard to see why so many Lord of the Rings scenes were filmed nearby and we will point them out for you.
7. Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park (2.5 - 3hrs) – Arriving at Mt Cook Village, weather depending, we should get some amazing shots of the mountain itself. At 3724m, Aoraki/Mt Cook is New Zealand’s highest peak, however, the mountain can be viewed without any acclimatisation whatsoever from the village which is just 750m above sea level.
While in the national park you have approximately 2.5 - 3 hours free time to enjoy free walks/hikes or one of the extra optional activities. Some of our recommendations include: Tasman Glacier View walk, Scenic flights – see the region from the air and land on the Tasmin Glacier. Whatever you have decided to do, we will pick you up and drop you off where you need to go and make sure you are well looked after. Before departing, our guide will hand you over to our Christchurch partners Cheeky Kea, who will be guiding your tour from Mt Cook to Christchurch.
8. Tekapo (10 minutes) - Farewelling Mt Cook we make our way to Lake Tekapo. This turquoise blue lake is famous world over for its pristine beauty. We have a short time here but long enough to get those Instagram breaking photos explore the Church of the Good Shepard and see the Mackenzie dog before starting to head towards Christchurch.
9. Christchurch – upon arriving in Christchurch your guides will point out any highlights we pass while travelling to the drop off locations to complete the tour.

Great company, tours and people. My second tour with them. Small group, very flexible in pick up and drop offs. Kristina is a great tour guide. Lots of stories and facts about the area. She went out of her way to get my bag that I left on one of the stops. Great favour that I really appreciate, or my vacation would be ruined. This would never be possible with the big bus. Scenery is amazing. We had time to do some trail hiking. Bus change went smoothly. They even changed the bus driver at the end (it’s only allowed to drive for max 14 hours in NZ) so that everyone would be dropped off at our hotels. I have booked several other tours with Cheeky Kiwis as I trust they will be doing a great job. Thank you, guys!

We did not see the beauty of Mt. Cook because it was raining but the Scenic view was nice. I love my Christchurch experience. Visiting the botanical garden was my wow moments.i visited 2x to satisfy myself to appreciate the beauty of their different kinds of pretty flowers. I enjoyed like a kid smelling the aroma of fresh flowers and trees. I love Christchurch because the tourist center is only a walking distancenfrom my hotel

This was a great way to travel from Queenstown to Christchurch! Nice stops along the way for a stretch and photo. Good amount of free time at Mt. Cook, which was well organized with ideas given the current closure of the Hooker Valley Track. Driver/guide Carl from Mt. Cook to Christchurch was AWESOME! He provided tons of info and stories on the way!

Excellent tour. The mini van from Queenstown was great but a heads up for tall people the second bus which took us to Christchurch was a bit uncomfortable as the leg space was not much. Other than that our tour guides Colin Karl and Jay were excellent and their commentary kept us entertained all the way. Highly recommended. Thanks to Colin Karl n Jay.

Our tour was a great experience We learned a lot about the geographical area as well as history as we traveled with Colin for the first part of the day and Karl for the last part of the day I highly recommend each of them as great customer service drivers The two hikes that we did in the mountains were rigorous but worthwhile

That there is a choice that you have to make what activity to do in the Mount Cook NP. Once you know that the visibility of the Mount Cook is slim. It is better to only hike to the nearby glacier and lake with the icebergs. If you want to do both hikes the time is limited and you will have to hurry, leaving not enough time to rest. The driver and guide are very knowledgeable about the scenery and landmarks that you pass along the road.

I had the best day on the trip from Queenstown to Christchurch! Hannah and Grant my two tours guides were super friendly and kind- they kept the energy throughout the long day and told many interesting and fun stories! We were lucky the weather also paid in our favour but as someone without a car it was amazing to get to see so much on the journey up and I felt there was a good amount of time to do some of the walks along the way considering the distance! Grant even went the extra mile and came back for me when I forgot my bag and for this I was extremely grateful!
