Alexis with Ayllu tours was terrific. His knowledge of Quito history and anecdotes that provided the color commentary to make the Old Town sites come alive. He customized the tour to our interests and needs (I had not yet adjusted to the altitude), letting us adjust the flow accordingly. An added treat was the chocolate shop learning to pick out the notes of each region’s chocolate. Highly recommend this tour.

A huge thank you to our guide for such an incredible tour during Carnival. He is extremely knowledgeable, polite, and professional. Having done a group tour with a different guide the day before, we can say this was on a completely different level—there’s simply no comparison. He provided excellent insights into Quito's history and culture, making us feel completely safe and confident exploring the city. We felt a natural connection with him right away. Look no further; this is the guide you need

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Alexis. He was knowledgeable about the history of the city and informed us of the daily life of the people of Quito that live there today. He could not have been more pleasant and professional. We highly recommend this tour.

We absolutely loved our walking tour with Alexis! He shared fantastic history and local knowledge about Quito and Ecuador. The chocolate tasting was fun and there was no pressure to buy anything afterward (though we did because we really liked a couple of the flavors!). He was happy to answer questions about modern life in Ecuador, and since he spent significant time in the US, he has a good reference point to compare or give examples that we could relate to. We felt REALLY lucky to be taking this tour when Carnival was happening…we walked right up the streets near/on the parade route, and got to learn about some of the traditions (like spraying people with foam!). We embraced getting sprayed (there’s no white flag - everyone is fair game) but felt safe walking through the crowds with Alexis guiding us! What fun! We’ve done many “free” walking tours around the world and felt this was worth more than what many companies charge up-front - so we “tipped” accordingly - don’t forget cash!
