So cool! The tour did say it had a 10 person limit, so we booked all 10 spots....they did not limit it to 10! and they combined us with more people even though we booked all 10. That kind of sucked, we were looking forward to the small group. So it is not a small group. But was still good, we could hear the guide and did not have to wear headphones to hear him. So it was still a small-ish tour experience. Our guide was able to answer all of our questions and had good stories. It was one of my favorite tours we went on. And we went on a tour every single day! No pictures are allowed inside.

Our small group tour with Alessandra pleasantly turned out to be private. She was so sweet and gave us a very detailed history of the development of the catacombs, then took her time showing us through all the areas currently open to the public. She was wonderful.

After days of feeling like cattle herded through crowded Rome this tour was like a breath of fresh air. This is a perfect intimate tour where you won’t feel like you’re chasing around competing tour guides pushing through large crowds. Divan’s tour was amazing. I could have listened to him speak about the history of the catacombs for hours. We chose this shorter tour because I couldn’t imagine paying attention for longer than an hour or two but while I was on the tour I was hoping it wouldn’t end. Davin spoke quickly so if you have an adhd brain like mine it is perfect, maybe not if English is your not your first language. He explained the history of the catacombs and Rome in a way that was easy to follow and helped you grasp how extraordinary this piece of history is.

Mike was an incredible guide! He was funny, incredibly knowledgible, and made this such a fun experience. We really enjoyed the stories he told from the Pagan and Christian roots of this place. It absolutely opened up our minds to how these two belief systems shaped and were shaped by the Roman Empire, and how that influence is seen today. I can't recommend this tour enough!

We thought this tour was part of a Colliseum tour, but it is not. Nevertheless it was a pleasant surprise! Georgia was extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the catacombs and their history.

Divan was such an incredible guide! He made sure we knew all the history to ensure we truly felt the impact of the catacombs themselves. He answered any and all questions we had and was so friendly and sociable. A guide can make or break a tour and he definitely helped make this a memorable experience for us!

Pieter was very knowledgeable and witty my college aged son and I had a great time. The tour is about 2 hours so the TripAdvisor description wasn’t 100% accurate but totally worth it. Also not a lot of skulls like in some photos but you don’t need to see those the place is massive and super interesting. Learned a lot about Rome not just the catacombs!

We loved this tour. Carpe Diem didn’t have enough for our tour so they transferred us to a tour by Angela at Rome with Mike tours. She was very knowledgeable and her English was perfect… which we haven’t seen in other tours. If you want an English speaking guide without a strong Italian accent you may want to book as many tours as you can with Mike instead.
