Our day started perfectly with whale sightings on the ferry across to Rottnest Island. The train ride up to Oliver’s Mount was a great experience, and the guided tour around the guns was both fascinating and informative — our volunteer guide really brought the history to life. Lunch was simple but tasty — a wrap, a couple of biscuits, and a bottle of water — before we continued our island coach tour. The scenery was absolutely stunning, with plenty of photo stops along the way. Back at the settlement, we met the famous quokkas, which was a real highlight, and even spotted more whales on the ferry ride back to Hillarys. Our guide Leah was outstanding — friendly, knowledgeable, and a great photographer too! Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Perth.

Very good overview of Rottnest Island history, flora and fauna and land features. Well informed guide lunch was tasty. We were provided with water and given the opportunity to use restroom facilities.

The tour was excellent and great value for money. Nicky the tour guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly. Even the lunch was great. The only issue is there is nothing to let you know where to go when you get off the ferry. I didn’t even know we had to meet at the train station never mind how to get there. I assumed the tour was on a bus so got direction to the bus stop but could clearly see that wasn’t right so then had to ask again and was finally directed to the station. Everyone else waiting there had had the same issue and none of us were quite sure we were in the right place until the tour guide arrived. It needs to clearly say in the emails to meet at the station and some clear signage of how to get there once you are on the island - at the ferry stop.

We had a really good time visiting Rottnest Island! The highlight was definitely meeting the friendly local quokkas – they’re so adorable and welcoming. The blue sea surrounding the island was absolutely stunning, making the whole experience very scenic and relaxing. Lunch, however, was just a cold sandwich, and I think it would have been much nicer if we were brought to a proper restaurant to complement the overall experience. That said, the surprise visit to the old bomb shelter was unexpected and added an interesting twist to the trip. Overall, I’d highly recommend including Rottnest Island in your Perth itinerary. Between the wildlife, the natural beauty, and the unique historical spots, it’s well worth a visit!

That the ferry ride can be very choppy. And viator service as a booking agent stinks, bypass viator and book direct with the tour company. I will never use viator again.

This tour included a pick up and drop off to a nearby hotel which was super convenient! The train trip and guided tour of the World War 2 gun and tunnel site was excellent and gave insight into the past. There was also a bus tour of the island and our guide gave us informative commentary and highlighted points of interest along the way. A great trip for first time visitors to Rottnest Island!

Well-organised tour which gave us a lot of information about the history and features of Rottnest. The tour guide for the bus trip around the island (Jason) was the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide we’ve ever had on a guided tour in the past 20 years!
