Rovaniemi
Some believe that January - March is the best time to see the lights, but many find autumn the best. Season of the Northern Lights in Rovaniemi is October – April. Northern Lights appear when tiny electronically charged particles from the Sun boost with oxygen and nitrogen atoms from the Earth's atmosphere. The lights appear green, blue, purple, and sometimes even crimson red with orangey shades of coral and pink. Our guide will help you to set up the camera and give you some good tips on how to capture the lights. But, before you hurry to snap as many photos as you can, take some time to let go and immerse yourself in the beauty of Lappish night sky.

We had Martina as our tour guide and she was amazing. This company did everything possible to ensure we were able to see the lights and she also took so many photos and sent them to us the next day

Myself and my wife had 5 consecutive nights with Jaco, attempting to see the Aurora in Rovaniemi. We were picked up promptly from our hotel every night and our group size was never more than 6 and on most nights it was just 4 of us. Our success rate for seeing the Aurora was 2 out of 5, but I was happy with that as nothing nature provides is a given. Nordic Adverntures have a base camp that they use with a tent that can be used as a refuge from the elements, where a fire and campfire sausages accompanied by Grögi keep you warm. The area is private, and only people with Nordic Adventures use the spot, which is ideal if you get a show. We went to 3 different spots during our 5 nights but always to base camp when the weather wasn't favourable for any Aurora viewing. I've read a few reviews elsewhere that suggest the fire and food are a gimmick to take your mind off the fact you aren't going to see anything but the fact is, the only difference to a night out with Nordic Aventures is you either see the Aurora, or you don't, and they do nothing different on any night, they still take you to base camp, they still provide food and drink and a warm place to sit if needed, and Jaco still provides entertaining conversation. If mother nature provides you with a show, that's the bonus, but Nordic Adventures can't control the weather, but they do try to control how comfortable you are when ok their tours. Jaco was a fantastic guide, full of life, and always had plenty to talk about, so there were no awkward silences. He was never late, and on the night we had our best Aurora show, he stayed out beyond his time so we could make the most of it. We checked in every day with the office via WhatsApp to confirm our trip that night, and the response was always prompt and friendly. I highly recommend Nordic Adventures. They were a pleasure to deal with.

We purchased the 3-day pass and went in October. We were picked up daily from our hotel, and drove around 30 mins from the city centre to reach the campsite. There were huts set up so u could stay warm from the cold. Though we were only lucky enough to see the aurora and stargaze for the first night, we loved the campfire and the bonding with our guide, Jaco, and people within the group 🤗 We enjoyed the glogi, the roasted sausages, and the smores with ginger bread cookies! One member in our group even did floating in the lake in pitch dark! Definitely a great experience for us! 👍🏻

We visited Rovaniemi in November 2023. We took 3 days Aurora pass. Pedro , our guide for first 2 days, did a awsome job and we managed to see northen light both days. He was really nice and polite. We had fire in -30 deg to keep ourself warm both the days. However due to bad weather and snow, 3rd day was not ideal for northen light hunting. They suggested ice floating as alternative activities. Alex was our guide that day and he did everything to make ourself comfortable and made this unique experience memorable. Highly recommended!!!

We were able to see the Northern Lights the second day. It was a lifetime experience! The place where they take you to see the Aurora is really nice and they have a tepee tent to stay warm as you are waiting for the auroras. You really need to wear accurate clothes to not freeze! Alex, Robin and Pedro are the best!

It was simply amazing! We took this pass because seeing the lights is like striking lottery :) So, we thought in 3 days, hopefully we would see on one of the days! We got lucky and saw the dancing lights on the second day. Our tour guide, Gail was very enthusiastic and tried his best on the first day - drove us far but sadly we saw none. But on the second day (he was our guide again), he took us to a place where the lights danced! We had hot berry juice by a fire watching the lights, on a frozen lake in -21 degrees!! Certainly would advise layers of clothing! Do wear double socks and gloves...choose the warmest you can find! Highly recommend this tour. The tour owner who was accompanying another group also took photos of us with the aurora in the background. He promptly sent the photos to us before the end of the night! So efficient. They are also very good about communicating via whatsapp.

we thought long and hard with which company to book and were glad to see Nordic Adventure was offering the 3 day pass. the price, relatively to Finland was appealing. and we took the offer and got lucky seeing the aurora on our first 10 minutes! the experience is fun and we felt good knowing we can come back and go and see the lights again which we did as we saw it on our 3rd night as well. I have to mention the nice treatment we got from Alex the driver, and Alex the owner which helped us by taking us from our apartment and made sure we feel comfortable in this tour. i highly recommend using their service as the price is fair and the experience great. Alex even helped us with the photos attached!
