We boarded this Steam Train not knowing what to expect. Truly surprised by the beauty and historical features in each of the cars. Our presenters provided a wonderful story about how the train system came to be in Africa, full of interesting facts, answering all our questions! Our social hour allowed us to mingle and talk with others from so many countries. The dinner service was exceptional only to match the view as we were parked on the bridge. Wonderful time spent. We were very pleased with this experience!

We booked this months ago through get your guide, who offered us to book and pay later, literally as I booked I got a telephone call from a lady in Zimbabwe saying that I had to pay now and in full. Because of all the scams in the U.K. at the moment and especially from Africa, I really thought it was strange and dubious, and no way was going to give my card for six people, it was about £1600+ and she would have my credit card details as well, something you just don’t do. Unfortunately two of our party had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances a couple of weeks before we’re due to pay, so we paid for four and got all our tickets through. The night before I got a call from the same women who told us they only had three seats left, I asked her to hold those as I thought we could add a seat on somewhere, or we had done it before and our friend’s could still go, by the morning they cancelled us completely off, making excuses that someone else had booked, in fairness get your guide should have said if you don’t pay in full at the time of booking you may have a chance of losing your booking, which we could have done at the time, or she could at least have contacted them so they could have got in touch with us to pay. This is not a cheap trip and we were treated so badly, all they want is guaranteed money coming in, we booked another trip for a tenth of the price and had great fun, my advice is don’t bother your just cash cows to them.

Full disclosure, this review isn’t about our dining experience just the unbelievable service from the operators We booked to go on the train months before we arrived. We had all the necessary confirmation. We then had the full cost of the experience (four adults) charged to our credit card some days before we were due to go. The night before (ie c24 hours before we were due to go on the train) my wife got a call from the operator to say that we only had a table for three as they couldn’t accommodate four people. Some nonsense about a wedding party had ‘just booked’ 🤪. We asked to keep our table with the operator eventually agreeing after a long phone call, to ‘see what they could do’. The next morning when we got the hotel concierge to call to see if we still had our booking, we were told they’d cancelled our table completely so we didn’t even had a table for three. All of this despite the fact we’d already paid for the trip in full. Please avoid this operator. Just shocking service and treatment.

5 hours(!) of awful food and low quality wine. Waste of time and money. 20 minutes of slow train trip, stop at Victoria falls bridge for a sunset, after that you have 10 minutes trip and and stop in the middle of nowhere to have awful dinner. Train is full of mosquitos.

A very well executed evening with great service and well prepared, beautifully presented food. So much more than a nostalgic ride. The train itself has been skillfully restored both inside and out. Plenty of photo ops while everyone is in the dining car. I usually assume that the bulk of your payment for such an experience rightly goes to the upkeep of the train and less on the food. Well, I was quite pleased with the meal as well as the attentive and professional staff. Of course there was the ‘tourist’ stop on the bridge spanning Zambia and Zimbabwe replete with merchants and vocal entertainment. It was quite enjoyable but make sure to have some cash handy for tips to the music group and the hard-sell from the vendors.

This is a must do when in Livingstone. The train is beautiful - true representation of the past. The crew were warm and friendly and the food was wonderful.

Wonderful experience ….. best of a bye gone age of train travelling elegance Food was delicious Travelling on a steam train always fun and the way trains were meant to travel! Stopping on the bridge between Zambia and Zimbabwe within reach of the Victoria Falls was a tremendous treat

Surroundings sumptuous, atmosphere convivial, food delicious, staff friendly and professional. We really enjoyed our evening on the train with a stop at the Zim-Zam border bridge everyone aboard was there to enjoy themselves and make new friends. It’s not a bargain basement evening out and doesn’t try to be, it is quite unapologetically top quality.

The view is wonderful. Staff extremely service oriented. We were picked up from the hotel in Victoria Falls and taken to the border. There a member of the train team expected us and took us to Livingstone (the same on the way back). During the trip there are unlimited drinks and on the return journey a delicious 5-course menu, whereby the chef also responded to special requests.
