What To Expect

Our English-speaking driver will wait for you outside the airport holding a sign with your name and will help you carry your luggage to the van. From there we will take you out of the Central Valley by route 1 to reach San Ramón approximately halfway through and make a stop to use the bathrooms, eat or simply stretch your legs. After this convenient stop we will continue down the mountains until we reach the northern plains of Costa Rica and drop you off at your hotel in La Fortuna downtown, at the base of the majestic Arenal Volcano.

This was definitely the way to travel from San Jose to La Fortuna. The vehicle was nice and well air conditioned, and the driver was very friendly. We got to see a lot of great terrain and views along the way. Much easier than driving!

Richard was waiting for me as I got out of baggage claim with signage with my name. He was professional, polite and got me to my destination safely. I will definitely use Fortuna Expeditions again. My only regret is that because I was unwell, I took medication that made me drowsy and forgot to tip. Nevertheles, I definitely recommend.

Traffic out of San Jose was intense! We were very glad to have booked the shuttle. It was interesting to see more of the land and Richard was a great driver. The rest stop at the little shop was a nice break.

Jordan drove us from La Fortuna back to San José on an early morning ride. He made sure we had a stop for food along the way and carefully navigated safe alternate routes due to the weather. Thanks to his attentiveness, we made it safely and without any issues.

Alfredo picked us up from the airport and took such great care of us. Along the way, he accommodated us so well, even stopping halfway for food and some goodies. He shared great suggestions on things to do in the area and even pulled over so we could see a sloth—a rare and unforgettable sight! Alfredo also educated us about a nearby local festival, which made the trip even more special. We truly appreciated his kindness, knowledge, and hospitality.
