This experience requires a Minimum number of 2 participants, if this is cancelled because minimum is not met then you will be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
This experience is seldom cancelled due to bad weather, it does not rain here but we have strong desert winds sometime. If it is cancelled due to bad weather, it might be rescheduled to a new time, or another date, or a full refund.
This tour can be upgraded to include Champagne, oysters and Sushi, please advise us of your special occasion or if you want a high end tour.
We reserve the right to change the route, weather, tide or safety permitting.

Please note due to the scarcity of German guides we cannot guarantee a German speaking guide, in peak season or when a cruise liner is in the Harbour and 2000guests disembark.
German speaking guides are very scarce. These will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
please note all Cruise Liner passengers, your tour pick up time starts an hour after you have docked. The tour will depart latest an hour and a half after the pick up time. Late comers are considered a no show

What To Expect
Our journey takes us through Walvis Bay, lagune wetlands where thousands of pink Flamingos can be seen, past the enormous Salt Mine harvesting 100000 tons per month, south along the beach to Sandwich Harbor where the Dune belt meets the sea . See the waves carve away the dunes at high tide where it sometimes becomes impossible to enter this beautiful and remote area. We go on a roller coaster dune ride up to the view point with absolute surprise to see the stunning views and the quiet desert ambiance. The huge sea of sand , the dunes, have that special kind of magic ...absolutely unique. Our knowledgeable guides will tell you about the desert area and skillfully drive you to the best spots. Adrenaline soaked dune drives , searching for animals in this desolate area , learn how the plants and animals have evolved to live in the desert. Absolutely Awesome , all of it. A must do when in Namibia. the full day tour has 5s tops more than this half day tour
Flamingo lagoon
Our Tour takes us through the Ramsar convention Walvisbay lagune wetlands where up to 250 000 and 54 species of birds can be seen from time: Pelicans, Flamingos, Plovers, Sandpipers and other endemic Birds can be seen. We drop our tyre air pressure and discuss the many birds

5.00We had an absolutely unforgettable Sandwich Harbour tour from Swakopmund today – thanks to our great guide Volker! We were traveling as a family with two teenagers, and Volker managed to really inspire everyone. He took an incredible amount of time, explained everything in a comprehensible and exciting way and always responded to our questions and interests. We were particularly impressed by how many photo stops he planned – always in the best spots with breathtaking views. You have noticed that not only the tour itself, but also the experience for us guests is really close to his heart. His knowledge of the area, nature and history was impressive, and at the same time he was super friendly and relaxed – a perfect mix! This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Namibia. We can fully recommend Volker and the Sandwich Harbour Tour! Thank you for this great experience!

5.00Fantastic trip into the dunes. Gerhard was an excellent guide and sand dune driving specialist which made is exciting and we felt safe the whole time. Sandwich Harbour and the dunes hitting the ocean are amazing sights. We had a ball!

5.00This tour was an absolute highlight of our journey. From the very beginning, everything was smooth, well-planned, and stress-free, which made it easy to just relax and enjoy the day. The guide did an outstanding job – super welcoming, informative, and engaging. You could really feel their enthusiasm, and it made the whole experience much more enjoyable. We visited some truly beautiful places, each with its own unique atmosphere. There was a great balance between guided information and free time to explore on our own. Even though the weather wasn’t perfect and we had some rain, it didn’t affect our mood at all. We still had an amazing time and made wonderful memories. All in all, a brilliant excursion that we would absolutely do again. Highly recommended for anyone looking to make the most out of their trip!

5.00We had an excellent tour with Winton. To start with, even though it was out of season, he managed to rustle up some flamingos. We toured the salt mines, the dunes and Sandwich Harbour. We had an excellent lunch and felt like we were the only ones out there. Winton’s driving was excellent with a perfect mix of fun and safety. I would recommend this tour to everyone, there may not be a more interesting place in the world. Ask for Winton, by the end of the tour we felt like family.

5.00We booked a half-day Sandwich Harbour and dune drive with Winton as our guide, and it was a fantastic experience. Winton was very knowledgeable about the history and geography of the area, which added so much to the outing. The drive over the dunes was exciting and incredibly scenic. Winton was clearly in complete control of the vehicle and very considerate of his passengers, especially during the downhill runs on the steep dunes, so we always felt safe and comfortable. The beach picnic was delicious and beautifully set up, and the scenery was simply breathtaking. This tour is highly recommended and was a truly memorable experience.

5.00Driving through the dunes to Sandwich Harbour was a real adventure. LeClue’s driving skills were outstanding — smooth, controlled, and clearly based on a lot of experience in the sand. Even in challenging dune sections, we felt completely safe. Along the way, he explained the history of Namibia and the importance of the Sandwich Harbour area in a way that was interesting and easy to follow. His jokes and good humor kept the atmosphere light and fun all day. A guide who combines knowledge, skill, and great personality is rare, and LeClue truly delivered.
