This experience is seldom cancelled due to bad weather, it does not rain here but we have strong desert winds sometime. If it is cancelled due to bad weather, it might be rescheduled to a new time, or another date, or a full refund.
This tour can be upgraded to include Champagne, oysters and Sushi, please advise us of your special occasion or if you want a high end tour.

Please note due to the scarcity of German guides we cannot guarantee a German speaking guide, in peak season or when a cruise liner is in the Harbour and 2000guests disembark.
German speaking guides are very scarce. These will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
please note all Cruise Liner passengers, your tour pick up time starts an hour after you have docked. The tour will depart latest an hour and a half after the pick up time. Late comers are considered a no show

What To Expect
Our journey takes us through Walvis Bay, lagune wetlands where thousands of pink Flamingos can be seen, past the enormous Salt Mine harvesting 100000 tons per month, south along the beach to Sandwich Harbor where the Dune belt meets the sea . See the waves carve away the dunes at high tide where it sometimes becomes impossible to enter this beautiful and remote area. We go on a roller coaster dune ride up to the view point with absolute surprise to see the stunning views and the quiet desert ambiance. The huge sea of sand , the dunes, have that special kind of magic ...absolutely unique. Our knowledgeable guides will tell you about the desert area and skillfully drive you to the best spots. Adrenaline soaked dune drives , searching for animals in this desolate area , learn how the plants and animals have evolved to live in the desert. Absolutely Awesome , all of it. Our Tour takes us through the Ramsar convention Walvisbay lagune wetlands where up to 250 000 and 54 species of birds can be seen from time: Pelicans, Flamingos, Plovers, Sandpipers and other endemic Birds can be seen. We drop our tyre air pressure and discuss the many birds

5.00We booked a half-day Sandwich Harbour and dune drive with Winton as our guide, and it was a fantastic experience. Winton was very knowledgeable about the history and geography of the area, which added so much to the outing. The drive over the dunes was exciting and incredibly scenic. Winton was clearly in complete control of the vehicle and very considerate of his passengers, especially during the downhill runs on the steep dunes, so we always felt safe and comfortable. The beach picnic was delicious and beautifully set up, and the scenery was simply breathtaking. This tour is highly recommended and was a truly memorable experience.

5.00Driving through the dunes to Sandwich Harbour was a real adventure. LeClue’s driving skills were outstanding — smooth, controlled, and clearly based on a lot of experience in the sand. Even in challenging dune sections, we felt completely safe. Along the way, he explained the history of Namibia and the importance of the Sandwich Harbour area in a way that was interesting and easy to follow. His jokes and good humor kept the atmosphere light and fun all day. A guide who combines knowledge, skill, and great personality is rare, and LeClue truly delivered.

5.00This tour to Sandwich Harbour was absolutely amazing and incredibly individual. From the very beginning, Riaan made it a personal and unforgettable experience. We even dug for water in the desert — such a special and fascinating moment! In the middle of the dunes, he organized a fantastic picnic with a breathtaking view. It felt magical. During the game drive, he showed me wild animals like oryx, springbok, and ostriches. At the end of the day, we also saw seals and flamingos — such a beautiful finale. He also explained the salt production process in a very interesting and easy-to-understand way. Driving through the dunes felt like riding a roller coaster — it was so much fun! At the same time, I always felt completely safe. He drove very responsibly, and I never felt scared for even a second. What I especially appreciated was that he kept taking photos of me throughout the day. He chose the perfect spots and really supported me in capturing beautiful memories with my camera. That made the experience even more special. Riaan was entertaining, funny, and very friendly the entire time. It was truly a fantastic day that I will always remember. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Swakopmund!

5.00We spent a whole day in the desert with our multilingual guide Volker. Volker knew a lot of interesting things to report along the way. On the beach and in the dunes he drove us safely and with a lot of fun and always had nice ideas for photos. After a meal in the desert overlooking the sea, he did another "game-drive" with us, on which we saw jackals, ostriches, springbok and oryx antelope. Overall, an indescribably beautiful and unforgettable experience that is highly recommended. Thanks again to Volker!

5.00Our guide Le Clue was an excellent guide, a top-notch driver and a walking lexicon. He rode up and down the steepest dunes with us, stopped at excellent viewpoints and left enough time to enjoy and photograph. Le Clue was very well informed on all topics, whether the port and economy in Wlavis Bay, flora and fauna and the survival strategies or the history of sandwich Harbour. Plus good food, humor and just a lot of fun and excitement. Great catering and cold drinks. Very nice, absolutely recommended.

It was a real adventure drive with dunes, adrenaline, and plenty of “wow, did that just happen?” moments – and at the same time a crash course in Namibia. Le Clue, our guide, is hands down one of the best drivers we’ve ever had and a true walking encyclopedia.📚 During the dune drive and at Sandwich Harbour, he shared an incredible amount of knowledge about Namibia – from the region’s history and geology to the country’s economy and everyday life. 🇳🇦We didn’t only leave with full camera rolls, but also with a head full of stories, facts, and insights. Equal parts beautiful, educational, and adventurous – the perfect mix.🤩

5.00We booked an afternoon 4 x 4 tour of the dunes which was absolutely fantastic. We saw flamingoes, a jackal on the beach, seals in the surf and other amazing bird life. Our guide Winton was so knowledgeable and friendly. I loved the thrilling pace of the drive and the ground we covered. The views were absolutely spectacular and we had multiple view points and a lovely break for a beach picnic. I cannot recommend this excursion highly enough.
