Located in the mouth of Banderas Bay are the beautiful Las Marietas Islands, about 30 min from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
Formed by volcanic activity over thousands of years, the islands are a nationally protected bird sanctuary, also providing shelter for countless marine species.

Great dive shop in Sayulita

5.00I booked with Ocean Adventures about a month before coming to Salyulita with my family. They are a smaller shop and don't take larger groups which appeals to me. Communication was great leading up to my dives. When Iarrived, I discovered that I'd be the only diver that day. Two other divers cancelled. The shop could easily canceled the dive. Taking out a single client is still a lot of work and it's expensive, but they didn't do that. It's not all about the money. They want to take care of people. I got a ride from the shop in Sayulita to the harbor with the owner. Great guy. What a great experience on the dive. Ricardo was a fantastic dive master. This was only my third dive and he took the time to make sure I was comfortable and ready to go. He gave me some tips that weren't taught in the classes that made my dive so much easier. Tons of fish, stunning rock formations, and diving through the tunnels was the highlight. If you want a more personal, relaxed trip instead of a rushed dive with 20 other people, this is where to book. 5 stars

5.002-dive day trip to Marietas Islands was perfect. Ephraim was a great dive master/guide. Sebastian & his entire team were fun, professional, knowledgeable, very helpful. They also have access to numerous other dive sites near PV. Can’t wait to get back here & dive again.

1.00The google map link provided on the TripAdvisor website and confirmation email I received for the pickup location was incorrect. After driving two hours to get there, it led me to a back alley in a residential area. After driving around for 45 minutes and asking locals for assistance, I finally found the actual meeting point, but by that time, it was too late (see circled location that is INCORRECT in photos). Oceano Adventure has a small sign on the ground that is unreadable from the road, and there are no signs at all on the storefront making it next to impossible to find. I made four attempts to contact the dive shop "Oceano Adventure" in Sayulita prior to the scheduled pickup time to get proper directions, but no one responded. Ultimately, after they had left me behind, I received a message on WhatsApp indicating that the situation was my fault. This is outrageous. Experiences like these are the nightmares one hears about when dealing with inferior businesses that are only focused on getting your money. I was told that a manager would contact me to address the issue, but of course, they had already taken my money and I received no follow-up. The individuals who messaged me on WhatsApp were essentially just copying and pasting automated replies to discourage me from continuing to reach out. They did not even suggest rebooking for another day. They simply took my money and effectively told me to leave them alone. It is recommended to choose well-established, reputable companies like Vallarta Adventures to avoid the truly unpleasant experience I went through.

5.00I have completed my Advanced + Rescue courses, and done a number of day trips with Oceano over the past 3 years and every single time has been an incredible day! Sebastian's team is always kind, knowledgeable, and take care to ensure all divers on the boat are safe, diving within their limits, and enjoying their tour. And the cookies they provide are my absolute fave :)

5.00My diving the Marietas Islands experience with Oceano Adventures was excellent. Casper did an exceptional job of presenting our dive plans. I have new to diving but have a number of dives under my belt. I find that I get a bit nervous each time I show up to dive when it has been months since my prior dives. Casper covered the dive plan in detail including all of those things that I tend to wonder if I will remember. He really put me at ease prior to our jumping in. In leading our dives, he did a great job of reading the group, and provided enough space to thoroughly enjoy our own, individual experience, but did regular check-ins and made it a point to point out cool finds like moray eels and other easy to miss wildlife. The drift and wall dives both provided lots of cool things to see and wonderfully clear and warm water to enjoy it in. An added surprise was getting to swim through a small tunnel towards the end of our second dive. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised that a sandwich and water were both provided on the boat. Even though this is set up as a 1/2 day excursion, I recommend planning it to consume most of the day. If leaving from Sayulita, you end up with about a 45 minute van ride each direction in conjunction with a similar amount of time on the water to get to and from the Marietas. Also, my previous dives with other organizations, have averaged 60 minutes. I was a bit surprised that these dives were only 45 minutes each, limited by the National Park rules if I remember correctly.

5.00I just got back from the combo tour to the Marietas Islands and Hidden Beach, and it was absolutely a highlight of my trip! The entire crew (Laura, Casper, Jonathan, and Oswaldo) was fantastic, professional, and so much fun. I did my discover dive with Casper, and he made me feel completely safe and confident underwater. Even though the visibility wasn't perfect, he did his best to capture some awesome footage of my adventure. Jonathan was our guide for the swim to the Hidden Beach, which was a little more strenuous than I had anticipated. His encouragement and patience made all the difference! He was also incredibly knowledgeable during the snorkeling portion, explaining so much about the local wildlife. I highly recommend this tour! It's the perfect combination of adventure and stunning natural beauty, run by a truly amazing team. If you're thinking about it, just book it!
