Discover the Crypto-Jewish contributions to modern society.
The Spanish island of Mallorca was home for hundreds of years to a thriving Jewish community where Jews played a pivotal role in cartography before having to go underground with the rise of the Spanish Inquisition in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Many Jews faced forced conversions, becoming Crypto-Jews, who displayed their Catholic face outwardly while adhering to their Jewish faith through secret signs and hidden synagogues in their homes.

Palma de Mallorca
Begin your experience at the Call Major, home to remnants of ancient synagogues and a statue of the 14th century Jewish cartographer Jafuda Cresques. Walk through the narrow, winding streets with signs of the secret community- centuries-old family owned jewelry shops and ensaimada, a famous Mallorquin pastry. Discover how the Inquisition forced conversions and limited the Catholic descendants of the Jewish Conversos to specific streets to live and work in. See the Gate of the Jews, and the site of the old synagogue. You will also stop at a local bakery and visit the house of a medieval Jewish merchant to learn the secret traditions the Jews created to keep their faith close. Break for lunch and enjoy some local tapas.

We had only one day of our Seabourne cruise in Majorca. We wanted to see as much as possible with the time we had. We also saw a lot of cathedrals and were looking for something different. I spoke with Dani Rothstein several times and he set up this tour. Carla his wife was a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable about local Jewish history. Through her we got access to the Jewish museum which is currently closed. It was definitely what we were looking for . We had a walking tour in the morning and then Dani the driver who was also great took us into the mountains to see some beautiful towns . It was by far the best day of our 2 week western Mediterranean cruise. I heartily recommend that you use this company . They are very reliable from pick up to drop off. They even had snacks besides drinks for us.

We did this tour to expand our ancestral knowledge and we were all blown away by what we learned. We were moved to tears when we placed our prayers in the prayer wall and just in complete awe of the history of our ancestors. Highly recommend this experience for anyone looking for a day trip or looking to challenge their understanding of history. Dani and his team are ones we will never forget. Thank you for a beautiful day!

Today we had a wonderful tour by Dani Rotstein. He is a very engaging and entertaining guide, with many interesting stories. Make sure he tells you what happened when a young Christian Mallorcan introduced his Jewish fiancé to his mother.

Our group visited Majorca with a curiosity of how Jewish life here was different than in other parts of Spain. Dani shared with us his knowledge and most importantly was able to share his PASSION for Majorca and the Jewish history that had transpired on this island. We have taken many Jewish tours and this by far was the best of the trip and probably ranks up there with any that we have taken. Loved the restaurant that we went to for lunch and he asked us to trust him on ordering and was the best lunch of the entire trip. he is an excellent guide giving the appropriate amount of backdrop to the locations that we visited and sharing his personal experiences with the locals - of which he is now part of the community. Thanks Dani for a great day and a highlight for our trip. Will definitely recommend to our friends and family!!

I just returned home from a cruise of the Spanish Coast with one of our stops being Majorca. We were a group of 8 friends and looking for a Jewish theme to private full-day tour of Majorca. As it turned out, our day with Dani was the highlight of all our travels. There is more to just seeing the sights as you explore a city with such a long Jewish history. Dani brought out the feeling and emotion of where we were. Dani has a talent of bringing History "alive" as you stroll down streets hundreds of years old. His love of Majorca moved us all to the point where we felt that it was a place that we would want to visit again. That's the greatest compliment you can give to a travel guide and a travel company!

We had our tour with Dani yesterday and it was so insightful. The Jewish history in Mallorca is being revived and I feel blessed to have learnt about it. Highly recommended.

Juan was friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. His own personal story brought to life the history of the Jews of Spain /Mallorca. The cool streets of the Jewish quarter were a respite from the heat and full of stories, symbolism and tales from medieval times when the jews once flourished in this beautiful city . I would recommend for anyone with an interest in Jewish history

Barbara taught us, 5 Dutch friends, a lot of hidden Jewish Mallorca. She showed us places of interest in the former Jewish quarter of Palma de Mallorca. We recommend everybody with interest in history in general and Jewish history in particular to spend some educational and informative hours with members of the Jewish Majorca team
