On this day we take you on a mini tour of Mindelo, the city with the best carnival! Here you will be able to see groups preparing for the big evening event alongside how the town looks without the crowds of people. We will meet infront of the Café Royal Suites, Mindelo before walking to the Palácio do Povo (People's palace), formerly known as the Palácio do Governo (Government's palace). It is now a public building in the city centre of Mindelo in Cape Verde with it's attractive bright pink colour, its hard to miss! It is situated at the eastern end of Rua Libertadores de África and was built in 1874, when there were plans to move the capital of Cape Verde to Mindelo.
Torre de Belem
Our next destination is a 5 minute walk and is a replica of the one in Lisbon, Torre de Belem. This monument once housed the harbor master's office. The building was restored by the Portuguese government in 2002. Here you will be able to enter the tower and adjacent museum.
