At the start of the tour, we provide an overview of the geological formations that have shaped Silfra’s existence, followed by a comprehensive explanation of Drysuits snorkeling.
We then enjoy the snorkeling expedition into the world’s clearest waters, guided by a personal guide for approximately 25-30 minutes and create a memory for a lifetime.
Following the unique experience, we invite you to unwind with a warm beverage of hot chocolate, accompanied by snacks and a brief chat.

What To Expect
Meet at Þingvellir Guest must arrange transport and meet us at Silfra, Thingvellir. This is about 50 min drive from Reykjavík. Get Suited Up We do all your snorkeling in the highest quality Drysuits and are the only one to offer Dry-gloves, that make your hands significantly warmer. Briefing on Silfra Overview of the geological formations that contribute to Silfra’s existence and go over basics of how a Drysuit is different from Wetsuits. Snorkel in Silfra Snorkel in the clearest water in the world with your personal guide for around 25-30 minutes and create a memory for a lifetime. Relax and Refresh After the unique experience, unwind with a warm drink of hot chocolate, some snacks, and a short chat.

5.00This is a MUST BOOK experience!! Hedinn was an incredible guide -- from the start making sure he got your measurements right for a proper fitting dry suit (you are completely covered head to toe) to on site helping every person get properly fitted and suited up to taking beautiful photos before, during and after your time snorkeling. It's the little details Hedinn adds like having an additional heater in his van for when you change into the provided fleece undersuit, to warm gloves that went under the dry suit to keep your hands extra warm to hot chocolate and biscuits after the snorkel. This experience was hands down one of the most unique things I've ever done & a once in a lifetime experience! I wouldn't think twice about rebooking this if I came back to Iceland. It's so good you'll want to do it twice! Hedinn gave us a great history about the fissure, fully prepped us with all the proper wardrobe and took amazing photos he sent back to us same day after the tour. Highly recommend!

5.00We had an awesome time at Silfra with our guide Hedinn and Diving Island. My wife joined the snorkeling tour while I choosed to scuba dive. Hedinn guided both our tours and was at any time very friendly and supportive. We can definitely recommed booking with Diving Island.

5.00Totally waterproof gloves are very appreciable in 3° water. I chose Diving Island because the other tour operators offered neoprene gloves which I think are less hot. We were able to change in a heated van which is essential in March. I like to focus on small local businesses like Hedinn and his wife. Hedinn is very kind and attentive, he helped one of the people in difficulty of our small group of 4 people while being attentive to others. I felt safe and would not hesitate to repeat the experience with him.

5.00Hedinn was fabulous! He is knowledgeable, funny, and caring. He explained every step of getting our suits on and what to expect in the water. His equipment was the best out there. He took amazing photos so we could sit back and be present. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you!

5.00We had a great experience with Hedinn, it was very well organized, the equipment was impeccable, Diving Island is the only tour operator to use totally waterproof gloves, which is a real plus in 3 degree water 👌. Everything was perfectly explained at the briefing, and Hedinn is a truly caring person. Diving Island is a company on a human scale, which prioritizes quality, in short, go with your eyes closed! If it were to be done again I would choose them again without hesitation!

5.00Only 4 in our group compared to other operators that had far bigger numbers per guide. We got such a personalised service from Hedinn - it was amazing! Really, when we looked at the other groups queuing to get in the water we felt extremely lucky to have chosen Diving Island! The equipment was also better - we had five finger gloves instead of the diving mittens that the other groups had so it was easier to manage our snorkels. It was amazing experience, we felt safe in the hands of our wonderful guide and it truly was a breathtaking experience. The water is cold but the suits keep you warm and the experience is unforgettable. Once we were out of the water Hedinn had a flask of hot chocolate and cookies for us and was such great company with lots or recommendations of what we could do next. Really, if you’re going to do this chose Diving Island. Throughly recommend.

5.00Great experience! If you plan on snorkeling in Silfra, I highly recommend this local company, who purposely keep the groups small. Hedinn was a very nice and relaxed guide, who also actively tries to beat the crowds, due to which we had the fisure all to ourselves. Equipment very good as well, including dry-gloves, which I can only imagine made all the difference! 10/10 :)

5.00Absolutely exceeded expectations! This has been a bucket list activity since I read a Nat Geo article about it years ago. From the minute I arrived to the end of the activity Hedinn was fantastic! He explained the steps without being overwhelming, offered a heated space to put the dry suit on (which was clutch in Jan), and the dry gloves were a godsend. He maintains small groups so you’re not nuts to butts. He took gorgeous pics and provided a link same day. 10/10 would recommend!
