Join us on a journey through Singapore from past to present. Enjoy dinner in a Hawker Centre and a tea ceremony.
You start your journey with the founding of Modern Singapore by Sir Stamford Raffles, visiting historic colonial buildings to learn about the early pioneers who came to Singapore.
You will board a bumboat and cruise down the river through to the present day. Visit Merlion Park and soak in the sunset view of Marina Bay whilst learning about the mega construction project behind it.
Discuss the political reform by Mr Lee Kuan Yew and discover how Singapore went from third-world to first-world in one generation.
Feast on Singapore’s most iconic dish; Chicken Rice at a Hawker Centre in Chinatown. Your guide will teach you Hawker Centre etiquette and point out all of the must-try foods in Singapore.
After dinner, retreat to a beautiful teahouse for a traditional tea tasting experience. Try the Imperial tea that Queen Elizabeth II was served in the very same teahouse.

You must be fit and be able to walk 9km to join this tour. We do walk at a slow casual pace but if you tire easily a group tour will not be suitable for you. Instead book a private version of the tour so that we can cut down walking by taking the occasional taxi ride(At your own expense).
If you book this tour and later cancel because you cannot walk 9km there will be a cancellation charge of 10%.
If you are a vegetarian we promise to get you something to eat at the Hawker Centre but we can not guarantee what will be available, it might be quite basic (like rice and veg)
If the rooftop of The Pinnacle is closed due to bad weather we will take you to a different HDB building.
This tour is not suitable for under 6’s due to the walking requirement. If you have young children please book a private tour.
Cancelation policy applies
100% refunds are given if you cancel 7 or more days before your tour.
50% of the fee is payable if you cancel your tour 5 or 6 days before your tour.
There are no refunds if you cancel your tour less than 5 days (119 hours) before the start of your tour.
There are no refunds if you do not turn up for the tour.
Small group tour - minimum numbers apply.

Prices listed do not include the costs of transport to get to and from the start and end points of the tour. They do include the costs of public transport used during the tours.
What To Expect

Tours start at 3.30 pm in the Civic District and finish at 8 pm in Chinatown.

4.00Pamela conducted an excellent tour. She struck the right balance of history, social context and current day events. We walked a lot, learned a lot and had a great time. I would do this tour again and would highly recommend that everyone do it while in Singapore.

5.00Our history and culture walking tour was excellent. Pamela was our guide, and she was fun, knowledgeable, and very helpful with every topic. We had no trouble with the amount of walking, because Pam kept the pace just right. We thoroughly enjoyed the sights, the historical/cultural narrative, and the food. Topping off the evening was a lovely and interesting tea ceremony!

5.00My wife and I did the 4.5 hour small group history and culture tour with river cruise, dinner and tea ceremony experience with Kavin as our guide and we had such an awesome time with him. He was very friendly and also catered to our needs. He provided us handheld fans as it was a bit hot and gave us plenty of opportunities for refilling our water bottles (or purchasing them if we didn't have one) and toilet breaks. Not only was he very informative but he was also interested in what we had to say. At the end of the tour he made sure that we all got back to where we needed to go. This experience is definitely worth having a go and if you're lucky enough to have Kavin as your guide you're gonna have a great time.

5.00Kavin and our group had a magical tour through Singapore. The tour stops were very interesting and were very well laid out. Kavin gave us informative commentary and always made sure we were safe and comfortable. I highly recommend this tour to anybody-the highlight for me was the boat ride, skyline view and the tea ceremony.

5.00KAVIN was exceptional and energetic! So knowledgeable and so accommodating. He was always ready and eager to answer any questions from the group and kept us really informed about Singapore culture, architecture, history and just so much more. You can feel his pride not only for his job but pride for his country. He did a fantastic job keeping us together and serving us our Hainan chicken dinner and drinks. He truly made us feel welcomed like a friend visiting. If you’re ever visiting please request Kavin as your guide, you will leave feeling so much smarter about Singapore.

5.00This walking tour was a great way to see the sights of Singapore. Our guide Kavin was really interesting and very knowledgeable of Singapore history. The walking pace was good (not too fast) and we had many opportunities to take photos from good vantage points. The river boat ride was very relaxing and enjoyable but my favourite was the tea ceremony at the end. Kavin did a great job organising tickets, transport and food along the way for a very smooth experience. We had a great time and would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Singapore.

5.00If you want to experience what Singapore is really like and get away from the fancy hotels and restaurants, this is the tour. Our guide Richard for the day was fantastic, he has a real passion for Singapore and its history. The highlight for the day was the tea drinking ceremony, so peaceful. Chicken and rice for dinner was delicious too. Absolutely great afternoon exploring Singapore. Thank you Richard for your kindness.
