• Perfect tour despite rain

  I was worried about being being overly tired during a day tour of Sintra from Lisbon… thus, I was looking for a tour of Sintra that included hotel pickup in Lisbon, tickets to see the interiors of the different sights with an English speaking tour guide, limited to a small group, and wouldn’t be too long - under 8 hours ideally. This tour was the only one that included the 3 main sights I wanted to see - the Quinta Regaleira, the moorish castle, and Peña Palace. (Most tours were 9 hours and did not include tickets. Some only picked up before 8 am or wanted us to go to a meeting place by 8 am.) We got picked up at our hotel at 8 am in a very comfortable Mercedes Benz van by our wonderful tour guide, Nuno. He first took us to the old Sintra city center, where we were treated to a local pastry treat at a historic cafe, before the crowds showed up. We then walked around the city center at a leisurely pace, stopping at St Martin church before walking uphill towards Quinta Reg, stopping to see a lovely garden at a nearby historic estate that is now a hotel. We saw everything at Quinta Regaleira with a great explanation of the mysticsm and history of the estate. We then walked back down to tour the city center on our own for lunch (he suggested we see the national palace gardens which are free). He then drove us to a different part of Sintra where the Moorish castle (untuned entry) and Peña Palace (timed entry) were. Everything was timed perfectly. Nuno gave us a great explanation of each of the locations while maintaining a relaxed pace and mood despite the crowds. We were able to get back before 4 pm. Highly recommend!!

  I traveled with my parents and brother and wow, I’ve never been so comfortable or laughed so hard in a tour. Not a moment of boredom João is sooo nice, he even brought us dessert which touched us so deeply. So worth your money!

  I was extremely impressed with Van Go Tours. A friend had given me Susana’s contact numbers and we called them at the eleventh hour to curate a short trip to Sintra for us. Within 15 minutes she had developed the itinerary (condensed at our request), and gave us all the details. Our guide, Joao was extremely prompt, extremely knowledgeable and fun at the same time, appealing not only to my husband and myself but our adult son and daughter who were on the trip with us.

  My wife and I had a private Sintra tour through Van Go in November 2025. We had about 7-8 hours to tour three sites in the village. Our tour guide was Vasco, who was warm, knowledgeable, attentive, and just a pleasure to get to know. Vasco was able to navigate us through the throng of people very effectively. He also had extra umbrellas for the rain. Vasco showed us a variety of local pastries. He truly showed his depth of knowledge, though, at Quinta da Regaleira. The castle and grounds are a truly magical place. Vasco showed us the meanings behind the buildings, chapels, tunnels, and how they all link together. He led us through all the underground tunnels and stunning viewpoints. All of Vasco's guidance and knowledge enhanced the experience of being in a truly enchanting place.

  My husband and I had a fantastic day in Sintra with Nuno. We walked a lot. We walked uphill. We went down many many many steps. But we got a once in a lifetime experience in this beautiful city with this private guide.

  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing tour with Bernardo! He guided us through Pena Palace, Moorish Castle, and the Regaleira Palace, and was absolutely fantastic. Bernardo was full of interesting information, clearly knew his way around, and made everything easy and enjoyable. He was also very friendly and engaging, which made the whole experience even better. We learned so much and had a great time—highly recommend taking a tour with Bernardo!

  We had a wonderful day with Susana in Sintra. Her English was excellent and knowledge of Portuguese history and Sintra was impressive. She always made sure we were always enjoying the tour and went above and beyond in providing information about Portugal outside of the tour. You can tell she is passionate about her country and job. Our group really appreciated it and we would not hesitate to book a tour with her and her company again.
