Combine sightseeing and river rafting on this relaxing Skagway shore excursion. Enjoy a beautiful 10-mile (16-km) drive along the coast to the Dyea Valley, an old Gold Rush settlement rich with history. On the drive, you may spot seals, eagles and other wildlife (however wildlife sightings are not guaranteed). See the start of the famous Chilkoot Trail, where thousands journeyed in pursuit of gold in 1898. Gear up with lifejackets, rubber boots, and rain ponchos (if necessary) for the peaceful (approx. 40 minute) float through lush coastal forest with mountain views. Enjoy nature away from the crowds in a beautiful Alaskan setting.

Tour can be cancelled if river is in flood stage.
Weights are asked so we have enough space on the raft for all participants. Please make sure to enter weights when booking (choose Kg or Lbs)

5.00We had an amazing time on the Scenic River Float Tour during our stop in Skagway! This excursion was the perfect blend of peaceful nature and engaging storytelling, and it was made even better by our outstanding guides, Will and Rachel. From the moment we met them, both Will and Rachel were warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. They made us feel safe and well taken care of, while also sharing fascinating facts about the local history, wildlife, and landscape. Their passion for the area really came through, and their friendly, easygoing nature made the entire experience that much more enjoyable. The float itself was serene and beautiful — gently drifting down the river surrounded by mountains and forests. It’s not a white-water thrill ride, but that’s exactly what we loved about it. It was calm, scenic, and a great way to soak in the Alaskan wilderness from a unique perspective. If you’re looking for a relaxing and memorable way to experience the natural beauty of Skagway, I highly recommend this tour — and if you’re lucky enough to get Will and Rachel as your guides, you’re in for a real treat!

5.005/5 Recommend! Our float down the river included beautiful scenery that also aloud us to see the glacier. I would say our guide made the trip. She provided excellent history, & was very personable. She also answered any questions we had from living in Skagway to wildlife to her own personal stories which as tourist we appreciated!
