Worst experience of our stay, and by far! First of all, we had booked for Saturday. Booking cancelled the day before by the provider due to “poor weather conditions”. Indeed, there was a big sun and a calm sea, surely enough to scare the rays away... We try our luck again 3 days later (Tuesday). Reservation confirmed, youhou! We had an appointment at 9:30 at the Triton Beach Hotel & Spa. However, the location given was that of the Triton Prestige Seaview and Spa (on the other side of the island). So we separated with my partner so that everyone would go to a place, to know more because no one answered us. Finally, someone arrived at 9:42, while thanking us to hurry. Wait, don’t worry, I’m coming, I’m activating the transporter! Then we wait 35min for a boat to pick us up to leave with 4 other passengers on excursion. Surely in more favorable conditions than Saturday you will tell me... well no, it was raining and windy as if Aeolus was angry. We think we will finally see rays: que nenni! and after several unsuccessful stops, the crew propagates a “basic” fish snorkeling, which we had already done as part of another excursion. Nothing to do with what we paid for, nothing to do with the price we paid. And nowhere was it stated that there was a chance that we would not see one. So it’s a real scam. Finally, to top it all off, my partner was suffering because the boat was pitching a lot and above all she had banged her foot on a rock during their “snorkeling”, which made her in difficulty since she then had an anxiety attack in the water. And guess what? No one flinched, either the other passengers or the crew members to even ask him if he was okay. No gesture of humanity. No security measures. Nothing. NADA. So this is the spirit of the islands in Maldives? Obviously, no commercial gestures were offered, no help was given. Are we just money machines, then? Anyway, RUN AWAY LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Worst experience of our trip, by far! First, we had booked for Saturday. The reservation was canceled the day before by the contractor due to "bad weather conditions." Indeed, the sun was shining brightly and the sea was calm, surely enough to scare away the manta rays… We tried our luck again 3 days later (Tuesday). Reservation confirmed, yay! We had an appointment at 9:30 am at the Triton Beach Hotel & Spa. However, the location given was for the Triton Prestige Seaview and Spa (on the other side of the island). So, my partner and I split up to each one go to one of the Tritons to find out more, since no one was answering us. Finally, someone arrived at 9:42 am, grumbling to hurry us up. Wait, no problem, I'm coming, I'll activate teleportation! Then, we waited 35 minutes for a boat to pick us up for our excursion with four other passengers. Surely the conditions would be better than Saturday, you might think… well, no, it was raining and windy as if Aeolus were angry. We thought we might finally see some manta rays: not a chance! After several unsuccessful stops, the crew offered a basic fish-watching snorkeling experience, the same kind we'd already done on another excursion. Nothing like what we paid for, nothing like the price we paid. And nowhere was it mentioned that there was a chance we wouldn't see any manta rays. It was a complete and utter rip-off. Finally, to top it all off, my partner was feeling unwell because the boat was rocking a lot, and what's worse, she'd stubbed her toe on a rock while « snorkeling », which caused her to have a panic attack in the water. And guess what? No one batted an eye, neither the other passengers nor the crew members, not even to ask if she was alright. No sign of humanity. No safety measures. Nothing. ZERO. Is this what the Maldives islands are all about? Of course, no compensation was offered, no help was provided. Are we just cash cows? In short, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

I booked my tour, travelled on my own to Maafushi via speedboat, went to the hotel to meet up with the guide, the hotel told me it was canceled. I called, emailed, texted the tour company: no response! I called trip advisor, they told me to meet the guide at the ferry, still no one showed up. Extremely disappointing and frustrating. I did not receive a refund either. 10 hour day and it’s my first visit to the Maldives.

Amazing, what beautiful creatures! It was an experience we will never forget! They swim very close and they are so big and gentle. We feel totally connected to nature!

5/5. Really friendly people and great organising the trip to maximise our experience. The boat driver and guide were experienced in finding Manta Rays. Very convenient time of the day as well. Communication was absolutely the best, so if you need to contact them do so over WhatsApp. Fast response with integrity and respect.
