It took about three hours to tour the main points of Asuka with a bicycle guide. I was given an overview at each location, and then I was able to spend a little time looking around for myself, so I was able to cycle in a good balance of time. Electrically assisted bicycles are available (I don't know if it's every time), and I recommend it in that sense, as you could easily go around even in Asuka, which has many hills.

I really enjoyed this tour — I didn’t expect to find such an incredible place, the very origins of Japan, with its ancient tumuli. Riding through Asuka felt almost like being an archaeologist exploring Egyptian tombs, but with the stories told by our wonderful guide “Captain,” I was transported deep into the roots of Japanese culture. What struck me the most was discovering Japan’s very first Buddhist temple. Just a short distance from Nara and Kyoto, there is this peaceful countryside area filled with history, where you can truly feel the spirit of ancient Japan. Unlike the busy atmosphere of the big cities, here I was able to fully immerse myself in the sites we visited and enjoy them at a relaxed pace. A truly fascinating and unforgettable experience!

I was very attracted to the expression that Japan was the beginning of the world and participated in it. I was not very good at Japanese history when I was a student, but as an adult, I gradually began to think about my identity, and this tour helped me renew my appreciation for the country of Japan, being Japanese, and my parents. It may sound like an exaggeration, but it was a truly values-shaking experience! I wanted both foreigners and Japanese to experience it.

The information from the guide inspired my imagination more. I felt like it took me back to the ancient time of Japan. Cycling around the rural nostalgic landscape, I learned a lot of historic mysteries are still underground and undiscovered. Even though we live in the 21st century, you will find a single line linking the genesis of Japan. The guide was a knowledgeable, kind, and friendly! I would highly recommend this tour!!

sokoiko! cycling tour The begining of Japan As the title suggests, it was a valuable tour to see the beginning of Japanese history. Thanks to my guide, Mr. Shiotsu, I was able to learn more about the meaning of tumuli and buildings, and the thoughts of people 1,400 years ago. It’s actually a cryptic tumulus or structure, but it also teaches us how to imagine and think about it, and how to enjoy this tour! Another attraction of this tour is that you can meet a guide who has a nice light talk and smile. If you want to know what Asuka Village is all about, this is definitely the tour!

It was a wonderful journey to learn about my Japanese roots. Not only did I travel around the ruins, I was drawn into the ancient romance shrouded in mystery. This is one of the tours you should go to for the Japanese.

Although I didn't have much basic knowledge, the guides explained things to me in various places, including the famous Asuka-dera Temple and the stone stage, which deepened my understanding. The tour progressed along one axis, the beginning of Japan, and provided an opportunity to reflect on myself as a Japanese, on Buddhism and Shinto. There are many hills and some long journeys, but it was also good to be able to go around without getting tired because of the electric bike.

It was great to hear about not only history but also about the birth of Japan! It was also good to hear it simple, not difficult! Asuka Village is a perfect location for cycling and I would love to visit it in other seasons ^_^
