Let's try to deepen your understanding of the Japanese people's love of nature and the culture ikebana experience!!
Firstly, the interpreter will explain the history and spirit of ikebana at a flower store that has been loved by the locals for 70 years. After that, you will be able to choose one type of flower for yourself.
Then, You will travel from the flower store to the classroom through the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter with an interpreter.
A teacher from Ikenobo, Japan's oldest school of Ikebana, who has been arranging flowers for 65 years, will teach you everything from techniques to etiquette.
This tour is not just a hands-on experience, but also a springboard to a deeper understanding of Ikebana and Japanese culture.
The spirit of ikebana is rooted in the idea of giving life back to life by arranging flowers that had once been cut off by plucking.
If flower arrangement is an aesthetic of addition, ikebana is an aesthetic of subtraction.

This was a great activity to do. A very interesting experience showing a small slice of an old artform. It was a lovely change of pace from some of the more hectic and busy sites of Japan and fitted very well with the quieter and slower pace of Kurashiki. It was great to meet and spend a little time with both Sensai Inao and Misa-san who guided and translated for us as Mrs Inao does not speak English. Would definitely recommend.

Experience of a house in Kurashiki historic quarter. Expensive for what you received. Not as described on the advert. Did not receive the in-depth knowledge of the culture behind the style of flower arrangement nor the history behind it.

The whole experience. The guide, the teacher, the flower arranging ,the green tea and sweets, even the teachers husband showing his art work. A great way to spend a few hours.

My mom and I had a great time at the Ikebana Experience! Our translator and guide Misa was kind and friendly, and was very attentive and helpful to make sure we understood what the teacher was explaining to us. The staff at the flower shop were lovely, and it was fun getting to pick our own flowers! Mrs. Inao, the Ikebana teacher, was also very welcoming and friendly and made sure to go over some background information as well as the principles of how to create our arrangements. With some final help we were both really happy with our final product! Overall a really great experience and definitely worth the time! Plus, getting to walk around the historical district afterwards was a lot of fun! If you want a uniquely Japanese cultural experience, look no further!
