Everyone loves food and is said that everyone is eager to try out new dishes.
A visit to Mauritius wouldn’t be complete without a taste of the local street food! It is delicious, cheap and authentic. Even if you are staying at a five star hotel, with the best chef in the world, we guarantee that your taste buds will love these yummy local specialties.
Starting your journey at Le Caudan Waterfront, head away from the familiarity of tourist-friendly spaces and into the bustling streets of Port Louis.
For a taste of the Gujerati influence, you’ll find fresh, deep-fried gato pima or chilli bites. Made with soaked split peas, zingy spring onions and green chillies, these really do pop in your mouth.
Next, through the gates of the Chinatown of Port Louis to discover treats derived from Hakka Chinese dishes.

Karen was a great guide, very friendly, knowledgable and helpful and it was even better as we scored her by ourselves.

The tour was great. Our guide was knowledgeable and accommodating. He pointed out interesting facts and places as well as taking us to little known spots that felt very authentic.

Many different flavours, large selection, however the fruit market could also be involved. Informative pleasant guide. The trip took 1.5 hours.

Quite an average food tour - didn’t get much in the way of information about the city - took us to a very unhygienic biryani joint at the end to boot - costs way too much relative to the quality of what’s served

AmThe guide was lovely but the food not overly exciting or interesting and the portions were vast. I would have liked to have learnt more about the items for sale in the market. I have been on some amazing food tours but sadly this wasn’t one of them.

Beautiful getaway in the different districts of Port Louis. Street food, mixed with a touch of history on the island. Thanks to our guide Rudy, for all these varied tastings (don't have breakfast before!), and for introducing us to all these unusual little places.

Our guide was very good with only one minor blemish taking us to a tourist trap at the end of the tour. Apart from that we ate authentic food in several locations all of which was nice. We did get the impression that several of the places we sat down in were not ready for us or knew we were coming but we still enjoyed it. Small group easy to get along with. Worth the experience
