Studlagil canyon
The full extent of the beauty of Stuðlagil Canyon was hidden to the world until about 15 years ago. With the contruction of a dam nearby, the water level of the glacial rive here dropped by about 10m. We can now see the full beauty of the spectacular patterns formed here by basalt rock columns. Stuðlagil has emerged as something of an instragram favourite in recent years, with the turquoise waters of the river contrasting pleasingly with the austure grey beauty of the sheer basalt columns. It takes 60 minutes to reach Stuðlagill, and we enjoy about 60 minutes on location.
Gufufoss
Gufufoss waterfall is something of a hidden gem. Situated on the outskirts of Seydisfjordur, Gufufoss stands 88ft tall. It gets its name from the Icelandic "gufu", meaning steam, referring the the water spray caused by the plunging falls. It will take us around 75 minutes to from Stuðlagil to Gufufoss.

The bus tour led by Petra and Paco was an incredible way to view this part of Iceland. We were picked up just a few minutes from where our cruise ship dropped off. The buses were new, luxury vehicles. We stopped at the Studlagil, at multiple waterfalls, and for the adorable sheep all throughout the vast canyons. Paco was a safe driver and Petra sprinkled in Icelandic idioms, customs, and pop culture. She was a delight. Some of the stops had too many steps or uneven ground for my elderly parents to traverse. But they were still able to enjoy the vistas and views. Another traveler had a walker and she was able to get around.

Great excursion. It was not offered by the cruise line. Excellent scenery.. Tour guide didn't talk too much. They even provided sandwiches and water.

The excursion that included Stuðlagil Canyon from Seyðisfjörður was an interesting tour to a remarkable site with a capable driver/guide, but was a minimal tour and would have benefited from additional context regarding the site and aspects of the geographical setting. Seeing two smaller waterfalls on the return trip to Seyðisfjörður was a welcome addition. Overall a good trip in a comfortable coach.

Do not expect to see the beautiful rock wall canyon. Very disappointed that even after I called to confirm, saw only the edge. That was after a 1.5 bus ride and climbing down and up 238 steps!! Evidently the only way to see the canyon is to walk in 3.5 miles. Asked for my money back and was denied.

Earrings at all times of the group. The Petra guide told us a lot about Iceland. It was the first time we had a trip with TripAdvisor. I recommend it!

There was little or No value for money ($200 pp) charged. Basically a 3 hour tour stretched out to 6 hours! Very disappointing … the canyon is nothing like the photo! Save your money… take the hop on /off bus to waterfall …

The tour was exactly as advertised. Heidi was a great guide and the driver did a fantastic job (I am afraid of heights and was never uncomfortable with his driving). Heidi was open for questions and highly available to improve our experience and we even learned about some Icelandic bands! The bus was new and very clean. I would recommend both the tour and tour company.
