Studlagil canyon
The full extent of the beauty of Stuðlagil Canyon was hidden to the world until about 15 years ago. With the contruction of a dam nearby, the water level of the glacial rive here dropped by about 10m. We can now see the full beauty of the spectacular patterns formed here by basalt rock columns. Stuðlagil has emerged as something of an instragram favourite in recent years, with the turquoise waters of the river contrasting pleasingly with the austure grey beauty of the sheer basalt columns. It takes 60 minutes to reach Stuðlagill, and we enjoy about 60 minutes on location.
Gufufoss
Gufufoss waterfall is something of a hidden gem. Situated on the outskirts of Seydisfjordur, Gufufoss stands 88ft tall. It gets its name from the Icelandic "gufu", meaning steam, referring the the water spray caused by the plunging falls. It will take us around 75 minutes to from Stuðlagil to Gufufoss.

This tour was absolutely incredible from start to finish! If you’re arriving in Seydisfjordur by cruise ship, do not miss this opportunity to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland with this amazing team. Our driver, Paco, and our tour guide, I-V, were both outstanding. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a fun, comfortable, and unforgettable experience. The drive was not only scenic but also highly entertaining—packed with fascinating stories, local legends, and cool facts about Iceland. I-V kept us engaged the entire way, sharing music and even singing a traditional Icelandic lullaby after telling us the touching story behind it. It was such a special moment! The scenery was out of this world. From majestic waterfalls to the awe-inspiring Studlagil Canyon, every stop offered stunning photo opportunities. The natural beauty was simply jaw-dropping. The bus was clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable—we felt completely safe the entire journey. I’m so glad I took this tour. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Highly, highly recommend!
