This is a traditional dojo where the 63rd Yokozuna, Asahifuji, trained his disciples for 33 years.
In this authentic training space, where four Yokozuna and over ten Sekitori (elite wrestlers) have sweated and trained, you can actually experience practice and bouts with the sumo wrestlers.
Sumo, Japan's national sport, has a history spanning 1,500 years. Out of this long history, only 75 wrestlers have ever achieved the rank of Yokozuna, and only about 70 of the roughly 1,000 active wrestlers are Sekitori.
We offer a precious opportunity for you to stand on such a special Dohyo (sumo ring) and interact with the wrestlers trained by the 63rd Yokozuna, Asahifuji.
After the training, enjoy a special time savoring Chanko-nabe (a hearty stew), the source of the sumo wrestlers' strength, together with them.
Please enjoy a unique sumo experience, found nowhere else in the world.

This was truly the highlight of our trip — something we’ll remember for a long time. We came as a family of four and didn’t expect it to be as special as it was. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed. Everyone was kind, patient, and genuinely happy to share their world with us. We weren’t just watching — we were part of it. We learned real sumo exercises, stepped into the ring, and trained alongside retired sumo wrestlers. Watching our 4 and 5 year old participate and be included meant everything to us. It was more than just fun — it was something we got to experience together as a family. Afterward, we sat down and shared a meal with them — the same kind of food sumo wrestlers eat. Sitting together, learning, laughing, and just being in that moment made it feel so real and meaningful. You don’t just learn about sumo here — you feel it. The discipline, the culture, the respect. This wasn’t just an activity, it was an experience we’ll carry with us. I highly recommend this, especially for families.

Try to get there early; taxis get lost trying to find the location. The Sumo wrestlers are so kind and funny, and they have a wealth of knowledge. Come prepared to ask questions and learn a lot. The food is absolutely delicious! It felt like we were dining with friends. We will definitely return with our sons--thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

I had such an amazing time at this sumo experience—highly recommend it! It’s honestly perfect for all ages and something you don’t get to do anywhere else. At first, I was a little intimidated (I genuinely thought they were going to throw me to the ground😅), but it ended up being super welcoming and fun. The wrestlers and staff were incredibly kind, and they made sure everyone felt comfortable participating, no matter your age or experience. One of the coolest parts was how interactive it was—anyone in the group could join in, and it felt very safe and encouraging. And then afterward, you get to sit down for a meal with the sumo wrestlers, which was such a unique and intimate experience. Being able to ask them questions and hear their stories up close was something I’ll never forget. Overall, such a fun, memorable, and uniquely Japanese experience. If you’re visiting, don’t miss it!
