Just a day activity that gives you one of the best views of the Llanquihue Lake basin from above. And to get a closer look at the glacier of the Osorno volcano.
If you are used to hiking in mountainous terrain, the ascent will be easy and probably fast, so the surroundings and what you can see from there will be your main gain. If this is your first time trekking on a volcano, or you are simply not used to this type of activity, you will enjoy an unforgettable challenge and be rewarded with memories that can only be captured from the top of a mountain.

We will hike up to the glacier of Osorno volcano and on the way, we will watch the sun rising over the Andes and enjoy the shadow of the volcano over the lake. It is not a long trek, only about 3 kilometers one way, but with a significant altitude to gain: just over 1,000 meters. Once at the end of the trail (2,100 masl), if the conditions of the glacier are good enough, we will walk on it towards a place called "La Isla", that is the point on the mountain where the slope changes drastically, from where we can admire the mountain and its terrain from close up. After reaching our highest point and with good memories of the dawn, we will return by the same route to the transport and, if you wish, we will have time to enjoy the services of the mountain lodge Teski. When the weather forecast shows rain or snow, the trekking changes its goal from enjoying the panoramic views to experiencing mountain trekking in adverse conditions. To feel the wind and push our own limits, knowing that we will have a couple of places to protect us and rest, and a cozy refuge to be back, take out our wet clothes, and enjoy a warm drink. To experience our way more than the point that we want to reach!

We strongly recommend Huella Andina. The organization of our day to the Glacier of Osorno by José was flawless. José was always very clear and responsive in his email communications. We were assigned two guides for our group of 4. Matias and Karla were very professional and provided us with all the necessary instructions. They guided us with a steady pace which made the excursions easier than expected. It was our first experience at moving as a roped team on a glacier and we felt very secure. We strongly recommend this excursion. It is certainly one of the highlights of our 10 trip in Chile.

Thank you to guide Karla for all your attention and excellent technical knowledge of mountaineering and for offering safety in the climb to the glacier of the Volcano Osorno. Transport from the hotel efficiently and communication of the details of the tour via message, so that I felt well informed. I climbed up to the glacier, so there was the desire to return to Puerto Varas and climb again to the Topo do Osorno. Incredible tour for those who want more adventure than just climbing a cable car like an ordinary tourist. I recommend.

I had a great experience with this tour. It was myself and two other people The tour guide was knowledgeable about information about the area. Did a great job helping me with my crampons and explaining the best way to climb. Gave us plenty of time at the top to take pictures Overall it was an excellent time.

We went without previous mountain experience and loved it, the views of the Osorno and its surroundings are amazing! The guides José Miguel, and Matias were very friendly and attentive, from the previous consultations by mail to finish the walk. We felt very comfortable and safe from moment one. I definitely recommend!

Responsive booking: because of my schedule and the weather forecast I contacted Huella Andina Saturday afternoon to inquire about a Monday booking for the Osorno glacier tour. Tight turnaround, so I had low expectations. But they answered my e mail within 10 minutes, and within 45 minutes had answered a couple gear questions and set the whole thing up. Part of this was luck, since they already had a trip booked and allowed me to join, but part was that they were on the ball and quickly answering e mails. Solid guiding: the guide (Matias) was pleasant and knowledgeable. He did a particularly good job of setting a sensible pace that kept us moving steadily, not too fast, but fast enough to get where we needed to be. I felt in good hands and relaxed. Great mountain experience. I have some mountaineering experience and if I had had more time would like to have booked a summit tour. But the shorter tour to the Osorno glacier really packed a big mountain experience into a small time window. We spent about an hour walking in crampons, a good part of that on the glacier (I couldn’t tell when we were on snow over glacier as opposed to snow over ground). When we turned around, it felt like we had come a long way up a big mountain. So obviously, the true mountaineer will want to book the summit tour, but if you can’t do that for whatever reason you will still get a big mountain experience with this shorter tour. Oh, and we descended via glissade — a total blast that alone justified the tour price and got us down in less than a fourth of the time it took to ascend.
