Rockingham Beach
Your day begins with a coach transfer from Perth or meet the boat at Val st Jetty, Rockingham (located in front of the Rockingham Cruising Yacht Club). On arrival you'll board the Perth Wildlife Encounters custom-made dolphin swim vessel complete with a large rear platform, making access to the water very easy. After your crew has located a pod, you’ll gear up with wetsuits, masks and snorkels (all equipment is included) and then dive into the fun, as you are quickly surrounded by excited whistles and splashes as the dolphins arrive to play. While many resorts provide opportunities to swim with dolphins, the crew’s rapport with these precocious marine mammals has created one of the best swim-with-dolphins excursions in Australia. Better still, Rockingham is a brief, 40-minute drive from Perth, making it an easy day trip. Following your swim, you’ll be treated to lunch with gourmet Seafood platters.

Disappointed. Daughter was not allowed by tour operator to swim in the sea. Their reason-her menses can attract sharks-is not scientifically proven. I was able to pull out scientific research that debunk this myth: menses blood did not attract sharks and the water pressure will stop menses flow while they cannot pull out any evidence when i asked them. My daughter ended up all curled up in the boat doing nothing. Most of us who jumped into sea did not manage to see any Dolphin. We wasted a long time in the boat searching around the sea. A couple of dolphins did swim near our boat once but disappeared quickly. I feel the prices are too exorbitant & the money could have been spent elsewhere for some higher value experience. Operator did offer discount vouchers for a return trip but my daughter is not keen after this experience.

This may be the most ethical wildlife company I have ever had the pleasure of touring with. No feeding/ no pushing for interactions. Just pure encounters in the wild.

Like many other reviews: compliments to the team. They were all very friendly and eager to make this a success. But in the end, this turned more into a (very nice!) dolphin watching cruise than an actual swimming with dolphins. Maybe other tours had different experiences but during our tour we ended up splashing hecticly into the water in two sets of three parallel 5-people groups for maybe half an hour to catch a glimpse of a dolphin or two. For this type of setup, there were clearly way too many people squeezed onto the boat (30+?). I understand that the crew wants to pretend this was a success but I do believe honesty here goes a long(er) way: today we simply didn't find the right setup to make the swimming actually worth the effort. Tell me that and I nod and say "oh well, it's nature, after all". The way it went, we all pretended this was a great success instead. And please, please, cut the lecture in the end a bit. Half an hour of monotone preaching about dolphin is not interesting - just don't try to fill the time (see above: honesty goes a long way).

With a group of 38 people, the amount of time each of the six fixed teams could actually spend in the water was limited. For our 10-year-old, it was almost impossible to get into the water without splashing, which scared the dolphins away on the first attempt. This was followed by a long, 20 km search for other dolphins, but even there, our contacts were limited to a maximum of 5 minutes per water session for our team, which had to go into the water in a chain. In total, we were in the water four times for about 5 minutes each. That had its benefits too, as the water was freezing cold even with thick wetsuits. We mostly saw dolphins from the boat, which was impressive. Our expectation of being able to really swim and play with the dolphins was completely disappointed.

I have always wanted to swim with dolphins but never wanted to exploit them in captivity so to have wild dolphins choose to interact with us was so incredibly special and demonstrates the trust that the dolphins have with this organisation.

At first I thought we are going to be snorkelling but the whole experience is effortless just float ,glide onto the surface of the water while holding onto the belt of the next person n looking down trying to spot the dolphins.Even a non swimmer can do it.And the crew were amazing (Hugo,Willow, Briggite n the rest) they were very engaging, look after everyone and did accommodate my photography requests. My advice don't be like me at one stage I was kicking and that could potentially drive the dolphin away. I would recommend anyone who loves dolphins to go for it,truly wonderful experience.

It is surprisingly a very low active trip. Guides are very knowlegeable and passionate about Dolphins. They were genuinely as stoked as the guests.

Swimming with wild dolphins was pure magic. Being in the water with them, incredibly close, surrounded by the most beautiful water, was honestly beyond words an experience we’ll never forget. The staff were absolutely fantastic: warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, making the whole day feel safe, relaxed, and special. Booking was easy and seamless, lunch was beautifully catered, and everything ran perfectly from start to finish. If you’re even thinking about doing this, do it. Highly, highly recommend! ✨🐬
