What makes this food tour special? It’s not just about tasting delicious dishes — it’s a window into Balinese culture. You’ll get to try Babi Guling, a traditional roast pork dish that’s usually reserved for ceremonies. So while you’re enjoying the flavors, you’re also learning about the customs and rituals that make Bali unique.
Will I get to try any unique local dishes on this tour?Absolutely! One of the highlights is Babi Guling — a traditional Balinese roast pork dish that’s usually only served during special ceremonies. By tasting it and other local favorites, you’ll get a deeper insight into Balinese culture and the traditions that shape everyday life here.
Can the tour cater to special dietary requirements? We do our best, but since this tour focuses on authentic local gastronomy, some of the places we visit aren’t able to accommodate all dietary needs. Unfortunately, we’re unable to cater for vegan diets or gluten allergies/intolerances.
Can I bring my young kids along? This tour is best suited for adults and older children — unfortunately, little ones under 6 aren’t permitted. Also, keep in mind that the food experience is very local and authentic, so there won’t be any “kids’ meals” available.
What kind of food will I get to try on this tour? Get ready for a true taste of Bali! You’ll sample a variety of local favorites, including: Jaje Bali – a traditional Balinese dessert, often colorful and made from rice flour and coconut. Babi Guling – a ceremonial-style roast suckling pig, cooked on a rotisserie and packed with flavor. Indonesian soups like Soto Ayam (chicken soup with turmeric and herbs) or Bakso (meatball soup). Jasuke – sweet, steamed corn topped with butter, cheese, and condensed milk. Martabak Telur – a savory fried pancake stuffed with egg, meat, and spices. Each dish tells a story — and you’ll get to hear it while tasting your way through Bali’s culinary traditions.

It was lovely to experience a little of how the people of Bali actually live their lives in an urban setting. And we learnt so much about their food and culture

This was a truly fun and enjoyable experience under the watchful care of Putra, our guide. We went to two different markets and tried authentic Balinese street food. Each dish was delicious and the local vibe was great. The Balinese are a lovely, welcoming people.

Irfan introduced us to exotic fruit market that we were normally scared of trying, advised us to how to choose kue (cakes) and soto (soup), was knowledgeable as a history teacher of Indonesian food, respectable as a multicultural commentator of different cultural traditions, entertaining and engaging to ordinary people just like his customers. Genuinely lovable food-tour guy. Highly commended.

My guide for this tour was Lena , who was a excellent guide and very easy to talk to The meeting point is easy to find We started off by visiting a few local markets and trying some food from the markets, before going to a fruit seller and tasting some wonderful tasting fruits I had never. seen before, it was superb walking from market to market and seeing everyday normal life! Are last stop was a short taxi ride where we had a desert and local energy drink You are given lots to eat so I would advise to go on a empty stomach At the end of the tour Lena will organise a taxi to take you back to your hotel If you late a foodie and like to try new abs different foods and see areas tourists don’t normally see , you will enjoy this food tour
