Blue Bay Marine Park
The Blue Bay marine park is one of the best places to see the beautiful marine life and to go for snorkeling in Mauritius. At the Marine Park, you can decide to see the underwater world onboard the boat through its glass bottom or to jump into the water for some snorkeling. Snorkeling at the park is highly recommended as the colorful fauna & flora found at the park are absolutely stunning. At an average depth of 5.5 meters, with crystal clear water offering great visibility, the snorkeling conditions are ideal. You will have a great view of the reef, fish, and of a large selection of corals The Blue Bay Marine Park is home to mangroves, algae, seagrasses, corals, and other marine organisms. There is also a wide variety of fish species that include Damselfish, Surgeonfish, Butterflyfish, juvenile Sailfin tangs, as well as tiny Pipefish and Trumpetfish. Note: all activities are supervised to ensure the protection of the flora and fauna. With respect to marine life & its ecosystem!

We had a wonderful day on this tour, with particular highlights including the Vanille Crocodile Park and the Blue Bay Marine Park. The Mahebourg Waterfront was a bit of a let down, although that's mainly to do with it being out of season so it was practically deserted. We did get a good view of the Lion Mountain from there though. I'm giving the tour four stars rather than five because our guide seemed quite inexperienced. He didn't seem to know how the snorkelling option in the Blue Bay Marine Park worked, and had we not pushed the point we wouldn't have got to do it (which would have been a real shame as the marine life and coral were simply stunning).

A standard island tour without anything extraordinary... could have done that by taxi at half price!

Our day started with La Vanille Nature Park where we thoroughly enjoyed the Giant Tortoises wandering freely amongst the visitors which my son and all adults were amazed by their friendly nature. We then went to Mahebourg Museum which although small it’s history is very insightful regarding maritime war and slavery. Next was a trip to the local market which was vibrant with local people selling their fruit and vegetables along with street sellers targeting visitors. Following this we had lunch at a local restaurant serving local food such as curry and fish. Finally to end our day we visited the most beautiful beach at Blue Bay Marine Park surrounded by local people picnicking. The views we spectacular and our boat trip guide was very informative showing us the different corals and talking about their aims for preservation of the reef. We decided to remain in the boat but we’re also given the choice to snorkel if we wished to take a closer look at the various fish around us. Our driver was very friendly and talkative throughout our day giving us information about our places of visit and life on Mauritius.
