Trou aux Cerfs
Begin your 7-8 hours southwest scenic tour with a hotel pick-up anywhere in Mauritius. You will meet & be greeted by our certified guide and after boarding in your comfortable vehicle, then set off for your first stop. You'll be heading to Trou Aux Cerfs which is one of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius. The dormant volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters & a depth of around 100 meters. Unlike the typical volcanic features, Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is surrounded by a vast area of lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species and some giant green pine trees. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 700 000 years; experts believe that there is a potential chance for it to become active again. Definitely, one of the main highlights is the 360-degree view of the town, Curepipe & the majestic view of Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range.
Afterward, head to Mare Aux Vacoas reservoir which has the honor of being the largest reservoir on the island with a capacity of almost 26 million cubic meters and is simultaneously a rather popular stop for tourists visiting the south of the island. Although nothing as fancy as the other attractions in Mauritius, Mare aux Vacoas is a gem hidden between lines of thick forests. It is the perfect place to spend a relaxing few minutes away from the usual hustle and bustle of the country. The reservoir even offers a rather amazing view worth several clicks.

Great tour with Radhika. Highly recommend! She covered the southwest with all the great spots. We enjoyed the local mangoes and lychees thanks to her.

Description was not accurate. Our 'Private Full day Scenic Tour' turned out to be a van with 3 groups booked to share. Luckily the larger group backed out so we were only two couples, rather than 9 or 10 people The description said 'This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate.' This was not true. 'Bottled water upon arrival' - no water provided. We had not brought water because it was to be provided. Pickup at the port - no communication as to specific location. Unlike other tours whose drivers arrived at the port with signs, this did not happen. We messaged the driver to say we were ready and waiting. We received a response of "Ok" 30 minutes later. After 20 more minutes we got a call saying we had to walk outside the gate. Not a problem, though we should have been told this before we arrived or when we sent our first text. Outside the gate there was still no sign with our names or even the tour company name. Eventually we found the driver and the other couple and then had to wait another half hour for the group who then backed out when they found out it was not private. The sights and scenery - Volcano and Black River Gorge - were beautiful. Lunch at Gris Gris beach was nice. The Adventure Park was not worth the time and the driver seemed put out we weren't going to buy any activities, only walk around. The "23 Coloured Earth" rock formation was underwhelming, with an amusement park built around it. The stops in the rum store and the model ship building shop were not in the description and were not needed. The guide could have been much better with better communication. We spent as much time listening to him talk on the phone as he spent talking to us. Our friends got a taxi tour at the port, saw the same sights and more, spent less money and had a more enjoyable day. We would not recommend this tour.

We booked the [Name of Tour, if known] and unfortunately, the experience began with significant confusion and frustration, immediately overshadowing the potential of the day. We received an email the day before confirming a 7:45 am pickup time. Because our cruise ship docked early, we were outside the port entrance well in advance, standing by at 7:00 am. The main source of the problem was the complete lack of a professional meet-and-greet. Many other reputable tour operators were present with clear signs identifying the guests they were collecting. We continually searched for someone holding a sign with our names, but found no one. At 7:46 am—one minute after the scheduled pickup—we purchased ship internet access specifically to contact the driver. After confirming via text that he was supposedly "outside" the port, we continued searching without success. We texted again to clarify if he was inside or outside the port gate, and he confirmed he was outside the gate. We then walked all the way to the gate itself and still could not locate anyone with our names. It was only after a third text message that he finally provided a distinguishing description, stating he was wearing a pink shirt. After several more minutes of searching based on this vague description, we finally spotted him walking toward us—without any sign whatsoever. We then said we were ready to leave. The driver said he was waiting for others. We booked a private tour .. he just shrugged. A few minutes later, two others appeared. They also said they booked a private tour. He was still waiting for others. At 8:30, 4 additional people showed up. They were furious, that they did not have a private tour and argued with the driver for an additional 30 minutes demanding their money back. They finally left This entire ordeal was incredibly stressful and wasted precious time at the start of our day. For a professional tour company, the expectation is a clear, identifiable pickup, especially at a busy cruise port. Relying on guests to search for a driver based only on the color of their shirt, rather than providing a simple sign, is completely unacceptable and demonstrates a poor level of customer service and organization. We also did not have the water provided as stated and started the day with 2 shopping stops not listed on the tour. We would like to see a refund.

Dull, the driver didn't show up at the hotel I checked in on. Freshverde was contemptible and did not want to reprogram despite the fact that the weather was execrable. Neither tripadvisor nor freshverde wants to pay me back. They're thieves, everything is provided for in their clauses so we have no recourse.

The tour was okay overall — well-organized and a nice way to see some of Mauritius’ highlights in one day. However, if you’ve travelled through Southeast Asia before, you might find the stops a bit underwhelming. The scenery is pleasant but not particularly unique, and some parts felt quite touristy. Still, it’s a decent option if you want an easy introduction to the island without planning everything yourself.

Our tour guide was Manav who arrived at our hotel promptly. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We went to the black river gorge national park, the views were amazing as were the waterfalls. Manav knew the exact places off the pathways to go to get the best view. He is also an excellent photographer and we have lots of photos of us as a couple. Next to the Valle adventure park, we hired a buggy which was great fun. The meal we had in a local restaurant was very tasty and authentic. All in all a trip we enjoyed and would definitely recommend

Had a fantastic day touring the South of Mauritius with our driver Daren. He collected us from our hotel (Ambre Mauritius) and took us to each of the itinerary destinations listed. Being from Mauritius, Daren’s local knowledge was exceptional and he was courteous throughout - ensuring every question was answered and lots of detail pointed out along the way. He looked after us both really well. Would recommend Freshverde’s private tours and Daren as a perfect driver/guide. Brilliant!!

We did this day tour with the wonderful Radhika and were completely thrilled! Unique in the landscape and at every vantage point we learned valuable information from her. With a lot of heart and knowledge, she made our day. The highlight was the Casela Nature Park but all the other stops were just great! Always happy to go back with her☺️
