What To Expect
El Milongon
Experience a traditional tango show and enjoy an authentic Uruguayan dinner during a fun night out in Montevideo! Upon arrival at the venue, you'll be taken to your table, where you’ll try a variety of dinner and dessert dishes including barbequed meat and flan (shortbread cookies) filled with dulce de leche (creamy caramel), accompanied by wine, soda or juice. During the performance, see exceptional dancers perform tango and other types of folklore dances including candombe, an African dance with complex choreography, and milonga, which is similar to the tango. The dining tables are set up near the performance stage, so you can enjoy your meal at your own pace while watching the show.

Good if watching tango and candombe for the first time

3.00If this is your first time watching tango or samba, this show is a good introduction, but if you have been to Argentina and Brazil and watched tango and samba, you will be a bit disappointed. Nice and intimate ambiance with 15 tables max. The performance was 90 minutes long with three dance troupes showcasing each type of dance. The tango dances were interspersed with a man and a woman singing, so there were only three tango dance performances. As for the food, hte main dish was OK. My husband and daughter ordered the fish which I thought was better than the steak I ate; it was kind of hard to chew on so I ate only 2/3 of it. The Uruguayan tannaz wine was good and so was the medio medio (mix of white wine and sparkling wine) - drinks were open bar - all you can drink. We also enjoyed the desserts.
Unexpected and Wonderful. So glad we found this.

5.00What a terrific evening! We expected to see tango dancing, but the show was so much more. This evening was cultural immersion. Food was okay. Local wine was outstanding.

3.00The dancing was really very good and they showed different types of dance, but had it not been for the woman next to us that spoke English, we wouldn’t have understood a thing. The background information was so interesting so it’s a great shame they don’t provide any explanations in English. Especially since it’s a tourists venue !!!! The food was very mediocre, with limited choices. My steak was ok but my partners was very fatty The show lasts about 1.5 hours and at the end the audience is encouraged to get up and dance Perhaps the price at just under £70 pp is reflective of the quality of the evening

3.00The event is not fully as described. It is two hours, not four. Tango is a small portion of the show so if that’s your primary interest, you may be disappointed. The show starts with folkloric dancing, there are several singers throughout, and ends with candombe numbers. The food is mediocre and disappointing. Four of us ordered the steak and it was so overcooked, even though we asked for medium rare, that we could barely cut it let alone chew it. The wine is plentiful, thank goodness. If I had it to do over, I wouldn’t spend the money.

5.00Enjoy an intimate Tango show with a nice meal and great care. I am not sure how big these are in Buenos Aires, but this was a personal small evening with Tango and music, and it ended with a Samba carnival.

5.00The show was very good. Very entertaining. We enjoyed it. The table service was excellent. Top notch! Equal to the finest restaurants our server was great, making sure everything was good, the wine glasses full & that we were happy. The food that we had was good. Excellent wines.
Excellent option to get to know Uruguay and its culture.
