So many things about the trip were fantastic, so despite no dolphins, it was sublime and we definitely recommend going:)

This wasn’t something I would normally do but my partner wanted to but honestly I’m so glad we did this. Even though we only saw one turtle and two fooling for a few seconds the experience was unmatched. You get to see the pure clearness and beautiful blues of the sea and all the reefs below while getting all the knowledge the guides have. On top of that the guide were brilliant, very friendly, funny and amazing people. We had this boy kayden with us in the tour and he was absolutely amazing for a little one and was so helpful. Would recommend this tour for anyone thinking of doing it.

We had a fantastic kayak experience. We booked this kayak trip somewhat last minute and had a group of nine with three children. The guides were extremely accommodating and great with our 7 and 9 year olds. We saw a few dolphins, but behind each of the trip was the views from the water looking into the coast. Also, the guides made the entire experience so fun. Highly recommend for all ages!

The wildlife was the best part of this kayak tour in Byron Bay — we saw dolphins, a sea turtle, and even a leopard shark, which was genuinely special. What let it down was the tone and strictness from some staff, which made it feel far less like a relaxed nature paddle and more like a drill. Early on, I paddled about 4 metres away from the group — not to wander off, just to avoid everyone paddling on top of each other. A staff member responded rudely with “do you want to go back?” and then again “are you sure because I can take you back”. That felt unnecessary and embarrassing given how minor it was. Later, I saw a friend who was with a different company further down the beach. Their vibe looked much more relaxed. When I asked if I could paddle over briefly to say hi (around 20 metres), a team member (Archie/Alfie) replied with attitude: “that’s not your group so no.” It came across as curt rather than safety-focused. The crew were also extremely insistent that everyone stay tightly packed, and claimed that if we weren’t all right next to each other it would scare off the dolphins. That explanation doesn’t really hold up: Wildlife guidelines focus on not chasing, surrounding, or harassing dolphins, keeping safe minimum distances, moving slowly and parallel, and not cutting across their path. These rules are about how boats behave around the animals, not about kayakers being packed tightly next to each other. Dolphins are disturbed by speed, repeated close approaches, being boxed in, or prolonged interaction, particularly from motorised vessels. A kayak group can be spread out and still be low-impact, as long as paddlers stay calm, quiet, and keep proper distance from the dolphins. So while staying “in the same general area” for safety makes sense, using “the dolphins will be scared off” as the reason for zero spacing between paddlers felt like a stretch. Finally, the lead kayak talked almost nonstop for the full two hours, which might suit some people, but being forced to sit right beside him made it more tiring than peaceful. Overall: incredible wildlife, but the team attitude and overly controlling approach took the joy out of it. If you want a calmer, more positive vibe, I’d recommend checking out the operators further down the beach where the crews seem much more laid back 👍 Not normally someone to leave a review however I felt with a more relaxed and positive crew this could have been a genuinely amazing experience.

Amazing experience with friendly guides who are very knowledgeable on the culture of the surrounds. The tour we had was entirely tandem kayaks (2x people per kayak). Anyone going individual are paired up with others or with the guides.

What a great crew. Friendly from the off. The team meet and greet everyone. You are fully informed and all feel included. Great humour and banter throughout the trip, we are in our early 60’s so age not a barrier to a fabulous experience, saw dolphins and turtles. It is well worth doing this tour.
