We did a day trip from our hotel in San Ignacio and had a great time. Everything was managed from drivers to guides. We had a little hiccup in our set up but we wouldn’t have even known and it made absolutely no difference to our day. In fact, we ended up interacting with two extra guides beyond our assigned one and got even more perspectives on the ruins. Had many laughs and a brilliant time touring these amazing ruins (would also say, if you are not sure whether Tikal is worth it, it absolutely is and having a guide is essential to get the full experience). Highly recommend the tour and the company that did it for us!

Our tour guide has lived in the Tikal his whole life and had incredible knowledge of the area and history. The visit to Tikal probably wouldn’t be worth it without the tour guide. He also took us down trails that the larger groups didn’t take so we always had a more personal experience

Dani was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share Guatemalan and Maya culture. It was also reassuring to have his help crossing the border. Plus howler and spider monkeys! And Julio was an expert at dodging potholes.

Great trip to Tikal for the day. Crossing the border and the drive there and back was easy. Our guide Noel was very knowledgeable and an invaluable resource explaining the history and culture of the Maya.

Great experience overall. From having a contact help with the Belize-Guatemala border crossing, to the drive to Tikal and meeting our guide was all done seamlessly. Our guide was very good, able to explain the history of the various sites as well as the plant and animal life around us. It made for a much better experience than if we went just ourselves. There is a fair amount of walking and stairs due to the scale of the ruins, so be ready for some exertion, but well worth the effort!

Great experience! Our guide, Pinky, knew so much about the site and the history and even the surrounding jungle.

We met our driver Norberto just on the Guatemala side of the border and our guide Luis an hour later when we picked him up. Both were fantastic at their jobs and really fun to be with. We stopped for coffee and a washroom en route and arrived in Tikal right on schedule. They had cleverly bought the passes online so we avoided the 50-car lineup and drove right in. Luis toured our family of five around for several hours and was an amazing walking encyclopedia about the site and the Maya people. Like any good teacher, he quickly saw what we were interested in and made sure to play to that. The site is incredible and totally worth the day trip from Belize. But you already know that if you’re reading this. We stopped for lunch on the way home and the food was very tasty. Try the pork chops if they’re on offer!

We were lucky enough to have Paco drive us to/from the Belize border and Tikal. He was a month into learning English, but knew a heck of a lot more than he realized. He was able to answer all of our questions and pointed out everything he thought we'd like to see. He spotted spider monkeys, iguanas, coatimundis, and ocellated turkeys for us too. He made sure we smelled the allspice leaves and had the best time that we could have. He even went to get my dad some antacids when we stopped for souvenirs. We were in his care and he took his job seriously. If you haven't been to Tikal from the border, there are a ton of giant potholes on the roads. He was able to safely and confidently avoid every single one. Paco said,"I have a license to drive on the moon" and he wasn't lying. I cannot recommend Paco enough. His assistance and guidance was the highlight of my week-long trip to the area.
