What To Expect
Kotoku-in (Great Buddha of Kamakura)
It is a gigantic bronze statue of Amida Buddha (13.5m, 44 ft.) in an open air. It is the only national treasure in Kamakura. You can enter inside the body for only 20 yen. (admission fee 200 yen per pers.)
Hokoku-ji Temple
Rated 3 stars in the Michelin travel guide. The temple is famous for having the most beautiful bamboo grove in Kamakura. You can enjoy matcha green tea and Japanese sweet in a teahouse overlooking the bamboo grove. (admission fee 600 yen per pers. including matcha and sweet) (20 to 60mn)

5.00This is a great day. I can’t recommend Kamakura and Enoshima enough. The tour was well thought out and flexible. Our guide, Moto, and driver, Taiji, were top-notch and made the day. We covered a lot of both cities and my 9-year old was engaged and enjoyed the day, especially Enoshima. Highly recommend and will use them again when we return to Japan.

5.00My 9 year old son and I had a fabulous day in Kamakura and Enoshima with Moto (our guide) and Taiji (our driver). I can’t say enough positive things about our experience. There was reach out a few days prior to our tour proposing some sites and lunch venues, as well as asking if my son had any interest in a specific site. The day of the tour they were timely and we had some flexibility in our day. The history they both provided about the various sites, as well as some cultural insights, were invaluable. We saw far more than expected and we did not feel rushed at all. I HIGHLY recommend Japan Star Travel Agency, Moto and Taiji. We will definitely be using this company again and will recommend them to anyone we know traveling to Japan. Don’t hesitate to hire them for your tours around Japan.
Delightful Kamakura, Yokohama and Tokyo Experience

5.00Our ship was docked in Tokyo overnight and so, I booked the Private Kamakura & Yokohama Tour (10 hrs.) & the Private Tokyo Tour (6 hrs.) back-to-back with Viator, specifically with Japan Star Travel Agency as the tour operator. Amy, the tour operator representative, reached out to me immediately after I booked the tours. There were 7 in our group for the Kamakura/Yokohama Tour & 8 of us for the Tokyo tour. Amy was very responsive to our group’s questions, accommodating to our requests & gave us sound advice on our itineraries for both days. We were picked up by 2 guys named Toshi & to avoid confusion, we called our guide, Toshi G. & our driver, Toshi D. The 2 Toshis picked us up promptly at the Tokyo pier on the 1st day & at our Tokyo hotel on the 2nd day. We were able to visit the places on our itineraries on both days plus an extra brief stop at the Tokyo Tower (Eiffel Tower replica). Toshi G. & Toshi D. were both very nice & polite. Toshi G. was very knowledgeable & Toshi D. was just so sweet, giving us Japanese treats to try on both days. The highlight of our 2-day tour was renting our kimonos in Kamakura & taking amazing photos at the Bamboo Garden (also drank matcha tea there) & at the Great Buddha Temple. The only damper was that we only had a few minutes at the entrance of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo the next day & didn’t have time to walk the palace grounds because the lines to get to the Sky Tree were so long even though we already purchased prepaid tickets. Our last stop was Shibuya Crossing which was crazy & fantastic at the same time - taking photos with Hachiko’s statue was such a challenge but we managed. All in all, our 2-day tour with Toshi G. & Toshi D. left us with incredible experiences & wonderful memories of Kamakura, Yokohama & Tokyo.

He gave us details of the route, and the places we were passing I would definitely recommend them. We had a great day

5.00Fantastic tour of Yokohama, we had a great time and were able to do a variety of activities that fit our family’s needs (including a very specific dietary restriction) and also get a great sense for the city. Pickup was right on time and the vehicle was comfortable and both the guide and driver were great to work with!

5.00Yoshimi (guide) and Toshi (driver) were professional and excellent. Yoshimi contacted us prior to our tour and made sure our requests were met and all the places we wanted to visit were accommodated. We were taken to a ramen place for lunch and we really enjoyed it. Yoshimi made sure she guided us and provided extensive knowledge about the places we visited. Our group consisted of 2 kids and she was great in making sure they had a fun time. I highly recommend this tour company and especially Yoshimi. Thank you!!

5.00I highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Toshi-san and driver, Tak-san made our day pleasant and educational. We were met on time by our guide at our hotel and whisked away to Kamakura. I appreciated the flexibility that we were given to add/drop sights of interest. Toshi-san was very well read when it came to the history of the areas we visited and his commentary made the visits very special. Lunch was lovely (made more so by the help ordering from our guide). We visited some off the beaten path sights that we had requested as well. The private tour aspect made for a memorable and non-rushed day out. A highlight of our trip to Japan.
