The day time experience's are held at my beautiful cosy home in Kilcolgan.
I also run some of the experiences at my cafe, Kate's Place, in Oranmore, Orantown centre.
In my home, guests enjoy the homely feel of my Irish kitchen.
In every experience we always discuss the difference between baking bread long ago, compared to nowadays.
I also encourage the use of my fruits and herbs from my garden, where if possible, we avail of seasonal delights.

We will bake fruit, for example lavender, raisons and berry scones (seasonal), and spelt or brown bread. I believe in the hands on experience for my guests - from handling ingredients to kneading dough. It isn't all about the cooking, I share lots of tips from my experience over the years. I love to see the faces full of excitement and joy at the sight of the end product - freshly baked scones and bread. And best of all we have lots of fun. If you're driving from Galway city to Kilcolgan village take the first left after O'Donoghues Bar, you'll get to a T junction after a couple of kilometers, take the left and then take the first right after you drive over the bridge. I'm the last house in this estate and have a purple door.

Kate is absolutely lovely! Her home and gardens are picturesque, we had a great time laughing, baking, and learning from the best. Absolutely must do!

This experience is done in the home of a baker who owned a coffee shop for years. The lightest and fluffiest scones, I’ve had! It was a fun experience

Kate is AWESOME!! She is a lovely host. Baking was done in her kitchen and you get all the recipes. Got to enjoy our baking with tea on her patio!

Such a fun activity, and a great way to learn how to truly make irish scones and bread. The group that we happened to be with made with, made it that much more fun. I loved that it was a small grouped activity as it made it that much more inviting. Highly recommend doing it! Thanks Kate for having us, it was a blast!

We had the best morning baking scones and bread with Kate. Her home was so warm and inviting, and Kate herself was the best teacher and host. We enjoyed learning the new recipes and had lots of fun. We are recommending this activity to friends and family visiting soon!

Kate was a delight, and an excellent teacher as well. We made brown bread, spelt bread and scones with another couple who were fun to work with. We enjoyed the fruits of our labor, and took the remains with us. We will definitely try the recipes again when we get home. Thanks again Kate!

This takes place in Kate's house. We got there and she was not there! She arrived a little after 4pm (class start time.) Everyone taking the class was waiting on her. Then we had several more people than she expected. The others said they booked last minute online. But Kate did not know about them. I don't know what the class limit is, but we had cramped space to work. 10 of us were around a kitchen island. I will say we made some delicious scones. The bread was very dense and flavorless. We did have ample time to get everything made and enjoy our pastries. Kate needs help with organization. But she was definitely a good pastry chef.

I traveled with my wife and we spent the afternoon with Kate. She and John (Partner) were very inviting. The house and yard were beautiful. She made cooking fun and easy and it felt very natural to be cooking with her. The other 2 couples that came were great to hang out with. Everything moved very smoothly and we had such a great time. I don't know that I would have done this normally but we wanted to honor my son who passed away who loved to bake so when this came up I knew we had to try it. I will now look for these types of things to do everywhere we travel and if we go back to Ireland I will be back at Kates to bake something new.

I finally learned to make wonderful scones and Irish bread. I was in Kate’s home so had the added advantage of meeting a local and seeing how she lived. I was so pleased. And now i know a key baking from Ireland
