Truffle is an unusual subterranean fungus. There are two important varieties of truffles: white truffle (Tuber Magnatum) and black truffle (Tuber Melanosporum). Both of these can be found in the Motovun forest located in the valley of the Mirna River. Even though truffles can be found elsewhere, Motovun truffles are considered to be of the highest quality.Truffles live 10 – 30 centimetres underground, which makes it hard to find, and that’s why trained dogs are used in the truffle hunting activities. If you came to visit Motovun, you should not miss out truffle hunting adventure. Svilicic family have more then forty years of experience in truffle hunting. When you experience truffle hunting, you will come to realize why it is an internationally appreciated phenomena.

5.00We spent a few hours in the forest with our guide and his two truffle dogs. They were very excited to hunt and found several white truffles. Mud boots were thankfully provided since recent rains made the area very wet. Be prepared to cross streams and branches!

5.00I would say this was absolutely a perfect tour ⸜(๑⃙⃘'ᵕ'๑⃙⃘)⸝⋆︎* Searching for truffles in the forest with Mihael and his adorable, energetic dogs, Mina and Roxi, was incredibly fun. Since it’s right at the transition between seasons, we were very lucky to find both black and white truffles! We really appreciated how kind and knowledgeable Mihael was, he shared so many interesting facts about truffles, guided us through the forest, and even recommended delicious local food nearby. If I ever have the chance, I’d definitely love to come back again!

5.00What a great morning spent truffle hunting with Michal, Roxy and Mila! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience which was fun and interesting. Michal was friendly, knowledgeable, polite and professional. We found a number of truffles (well Mila found most if them!) Would recommend this trip to all. Thanks for a super experience ☺️

5.00What an amazing experience with Mihael Svilicic and his dogs, Mina and Roxie! We enjoyed exploring the forest along the Mirna River below Motovun and learning about the truffle hunting process. Mihael’s excitement when Mino discovered a 77 gm white truffle was real! Mihael’s delightful mother, Lorena, fixed a delicious 4-course truffled lunch including grappa and wine that our group of 8 enjoyed on the lovely terrace of their home in Motovun! An added bonus was free locals parking for the day/evening! I HIGHLY recommend this tour!!!

5.00My wife and I did the truffle hunt and lunch with Mihael, and it was fabulous! He met us at the designated parking location which was easy to find, and he drove us to our hunting location. We walked all through the fields and woods and had a great time watching two of his dogs work. We found some truffles and that was exciting. Then we went to his home where his mother prepared an absolutely amazing lunch. We had several courses all topped with shaved truffles (both black and white), homemade grapa, wine and an elderberry lemonade which was refreshing after the walk. I highly recommend using Mihael for your truffle hunting adventures. He is delightful, and we learned a lot about what he does and how he works all year. He made our visit to Motovun something we will always remember!
