Truffle is an unusual subterranean fungus. There are two important varieties of truffles: white truffle (Tuber Magnatum) and black truffle (Tuber Melanosporum). Both of these can be found in the Motovun forest located in the valley of the Mirna River. Even though truffles can be found elsewhere, Motovun truffles are considered to be of the highest quality.Truffles live 10 – 30 centimetres underground, which makes it hard to find, and that’s why trained dogs are used in the truffle hunting activities. If you came to visit Motovun, you should not miss out truffle hunting adventure. Svilicic family have more then forty years of experience in truffle hunting. When you experience truffle hunting, you will come to realize why it is an internationally appreciated phenomena.

It was definitely nice to get out in nature and see how truffles are found! The guide was full of energy and very informative on the process, the dogs and the truffles. There was no tasting with wine at the end as described in the experience description. I did not need that but I definitely assumed I had paid for it. Still a good time!

Super fun to go looking for truffles with Michael EN his dog EN Roxy and Mina. Michael has very patiently explained the process of finding EN truffles and DE training dogs. Then a perfect lunch in a fantastic private location with a magnificent view. The food freshly prepared with DE delicious fresh truffles! Highly recommended!

We were very pleased. Michael was very attentive. After collecting black truffles (with his dogs), his mother set a table for us in their beautiful courtyard with a beautiful view of the green peaks, and from above, arbors of grapes protected us from the sun. I highly recommend this excursion, but be sure to include lunch to get the complete experience with truffles.

We had the best time truffle hunting! We were lucky enough to have a private tour, and we loved learning about the entire process of truffle hunting. Mikhail was an amazing guide who extremely knowledgeable about the area and truffles in general. The two dogs Roxie and Mina were so cute and friendly, but also were great working dogs. We were able to find some truffles, and then we had the most amazing meal on their family's private terrace. It was the best meal we had during our entire time in Croatia, and the view was stunning. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!
