We met Veronica at the Geyland Serai Market and she guided us through both the wet and dry markets expertly talking us through all the history of the various produce and spices and ingredients used in the variety of Singapore’s cuisines. She then took us upstairs to the wonderful hawkers market where multiple foods were being devoured by the lucky residents who live here she bought us some delicious food and then we set off down the charming Joo Chiat road opposite. On this road we met Michael who is the grandson of the founder of the Kway Guan Huat Joo Chiat Popiah food outlet. We were expertly shown how to make delicious Popiah which are absolutely delicious and super healthy. Well worth a visit for a light lunch if you are in the area. Thank you Veronica for a fascinating tour and the pleasure of your company. I hope we can come back and do another tour with you again soon.

We joined this tour because another tour we wanted was not available. We were very pleasantly surprised with this tour and the tour guide - Kenneth; who speaks English and Malay fluently and he shared the history, cultures, food heritage and other insights (e.g. architecture) that we will not gain or know if we did not do this tour. 3 hours of great insights - on culture, why, how and what of food. We had a Fun time making popiah and eating them made us want to stay on abit longer... We highly recommend this tour and very thankful to have Kenneth as our guide.

Extremely great tour. Introduced to us the history of the market and did a great job of explaining all the different types of food on offer for us to try out.

Good tour with lots of knowledge and information about Geylang Serai and Joo Chiat. Nice local food to sample. Went behind the scenes to see the making of curry puffs and popiah skin.
