The iconic symbol of Osaka in the Kansai region of central Japan played an important role in the unification of Japan during the samurai era of the sixteenth century.

Amerika-mura - or Amemura to the locals - is a warren of narrow streets which is at the heart of youth culture in Osaka, with dozens of shops catering to fans of urban apparel and hip-hop wear. But even if you’re not clothes-shopping, there are plenty of foreigner-friendly bars and restaurants in the area.

5.00Osaka's awesome, such a cool city with tons to see. We did this 5-hour walking tour, and it flew by way too fast. Our guide, Scott, was amazing – seriously, go on a tour with him! He's super professional but also really friendly, and his knowledge of Japanese culture, history, traditions, and language is just incredible. We're definitely doing another tour with him next time we're in town. Oh, and he also knows all the best spots for food at the markets or for dinner!

5.00We loved this tour! Scott is a walking history book!!! We enjoyed hearing the background of Japan as we walked to see the magnificent Osaka Castle! We even happened upon a few bridal couples making our photos more interesting. We continued our walk to various areas of the city (see the tour description) giving us a great overview and ideas for places to revisit. We liked the variety of places on the tour and especially the hidden little gems that Scott shared with us! This tour is a must if you only have 1 day in Osaka or a week like we do!!!
