What To Expect
Nara Park
Nara Park is one of the must-see areas in Nara City and is one of the oldest parks in Japan. The vast area covers 660 hectares and is renowned for its free-roaming deer and world-famous temples. These tame creatures are believed to be sacred messengers of the Shinto gods and walk freely in Nara. Over time, these cute deers have learned to bow to visitors-a sign for a treat. For over 1,300 years, humans and deer have peacefully coexisted in Nara. Today, they are protected as Natural Monuments, and revered as holy animals in Nara.
There are around 30,000 Inari shrines in Japan, Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine, to worship the Shinto god of rice, Inari. The shrine is renowned for Senbon Torii, thousands of vermilion red torii gates, which create a stunning and immersive tunnel-like pathway up the sacred Mount Inari. In the 1300 years since its establishment in 711AD, people have gathered here to pray for bountiful harvests, business prosperity, the safety of their home and family, and the fulfillment of all other wishes.

5.00We had an amazing trip with our guide Lucy who was charming, attentive and funny. Everything was well organized and enjoyable from start to finish. Nara Park was a great first stop, feeding the deer was a memorable experience. Fushimi Inari was stunning with its iconic torii gates and beautiful atmosphere. Arashiyama was the perfect finale with the Moon Crossing Bridge, bamboo forest, kimono forest, Nonomiya Shrine, and a relaxing lunch. Highly recommended!

3.00Extremely stressful. Guide gave the wrong bus number and description of himself so missed first part of tour and had to meet them later by train (costly). I wore a red coat (he knew this) stood in front of the bus and he still didnt see us. Beautiful places tho, glad to get off.

5.00Christine provided alot of good info on the sights we visited, especially the deer at Nara (yes we both got a gentle head butt from the hungry males). She guided us to the various locations effectively then everyone went on their own. As with all large tours, you are always depending on others to be on time, which Christine did a good job at.
