• Good show but very poor dining experience

  Our driver and guide was great. When you arrive there are hundreds of people trying to gain entrance. It’s a bit of a scrum. There are 6000 plus monkeys on site who are not fed and will steal anything. Sun glasses, hats, phones anything. The walk around visiting the temple is lovely but be on your guard. The show is lovely and colourful but you are crammed in like sardines. We were advised to leave half way through because if you stay to the end it can take you over an hour just to exit the car park. It’s then an hours drive to the restaurant which is awful. Viator have agreed a very basic set menu. We were offered only water or coconut. I asked for a beer and the waiter just asked me how I was going to pay. The soup was tasteless and then you get cold rice with small bits of overcooked fish. We were not offered at any stage a menu to choose anything else. Your pudding is a few slices of melon. We looked the restaurant up on trip advisor and has a rating of 2.7 out of 5 and is one of the worse rated in the area. Viator need to seriously review the restaurant choice. With knowledge now see the temple and show but avoid the dining experience.

  Nyoman was the best guide! We had so much fun exploring the temple and seeing the monkeys there. He helped us with our sarongs and even had an umbrella to protect us in case the monkeys got any ideas to steal. After that he got us some great seats for the Kecak dance which had views over the cliffs while the sun was setting. Absolutely stunning. Afterwards he drove us to a nearby warung to have dinner while the traffic subsided before our drive back to Seminyak. All in all it was a fantastic tour and worth the money.

  I didn’t realize I had booked a private tour, but it turned out to be an okay surprise. Our driver was the nicest guy—he stayed with us the entire time except during the show, and it was very reassuring to have his help navigating everything. Uluwatu Temple itself, while unique compared to Tanah Lot and other temples we visited, felt small and somewhat underwhelming, especially with the number of people onsite. I don’t like monkeys, so the online warnings about them had me a bit nervous. In reality, they weren’t too bad—only people carrying food were bothered, and most seemed to want that “monkey photo op” anyway. The Kecak Fire Dance show was the most challenging part of the evening. They pack in a lot of people, and since it rained on our night, hundreds of us were crammed into the uncovered arena, getting wet and uncomfortable for an hour. If you’re tall, the seating can feel cramped as well. Exiting was chaotic—it’s very dark, very crowded, and easy to get lost, which is why having a driver waiting was invaluable. The included dinner stop in Jimbaran was just okay. The food was authentic, but portions weren’t plentiful. Overall, I appreciated the ease of the private tour and having a good drive.

  We stayed in Canggu area , and Uluwatu is quite far. But the driver is very kind , he arranged to pick up us early so we will be arriving on time for the dance show.
