READ CAREFULLY: Because of the growing popularity of the current pope Francis and his intense activity in organising mass events in the Vatican some areas might get closed last minute without previous notice. This has already happened this year and can happen again during your Vatican tour: the Sistine chapel and/or the Basilica of Saint Peter might not be accessible. In case of such events our tour guide will provide you with a valuable alternative focusing the tour inside the Vatican museums.
A dress code is required: Shoulders and Knees MUST be covered
Please note due to the Jubilee, the Basilica might not be accessible as part of the tour. Unfortunately, we know that very last minute. In any case, you can go there after the tour, queueing.
Vatican Museums
You meet your private guide near Vatican City and with your reserved tickets you go directly into the Vatican Museums. No need to carry anything around the Vatican as you can store your belongings in the cloakroom. On this tour you will see the amazing Greek and Roman Sculptures and the sarcophagi of the Empresses Helena and Constantine, mother and daughter of Constantine the Great. To keep the kids entertained there will be lots of games and the opportunity to win prizes – they will learn a lot about the artwork but in a fun way! The tour takes you to the Gallery of the Candelabra, the Gallery of Tapestries, the super Gallery of Maps, the Sobieski Room and the wonderful Raphael’s Rooms.
Stanze di Raffaello
The four Raphael Rooms (Italian: Stanze di Raffaello) form a suite of reception rooms, now part of the Vatican Museums in Vatican City. They are famous for their frescoes, painted by Raphael and his workshop. Together with Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling frescoes, they are the grand fresco sequences that mark the High Renaissance in Rome. The Stanze, as they are commonly called, were originally intended as a suite of apartments for Pope Julius II.

Our tour guide Claudia was amazing. She kept our 6 and 8 year olds engaged throughout the tour. We all enjoyed the tour. It is very informative and entertaining. Definitely recommending this tour and Claudia as the guide.

We loved this tour. Maria was an excellent, knowledgeable guide and really engaged our 9 year old daughter (no mean feat given it’s 2-and-a-half hours of history/art!) Maria developed a fun quiz to keep our daughter enthusiastic throughout (with a prize at the end!) and so the whole family thoroughly enjoyed it. Given the current situation, the museum was really quiet - so we were fortunate enough to be able to have it almost to ourselves at times - an incredible experience (especially in areas like the Sistine Chapel which are normally so busy). We’d highly recommend this tour to anyone with children.
