Join us for a day of exploration and enjoyment as we guide you through the preparation of authentic Fijian dishes cooked in our traditional lovo (earth oven).

5.00You get to experience Fijian Cooking with a very fun family. They teach you all about the food, and you are hands on throughout the process. Once you have everything prepared then it is time to cook it in the pit. They are very welcoming and answered all our questions about Fiji and the culture. Put this on your calendar when visiting Fiji- well worth the time!!

5.00Wonderfull family run enterprise. Authentic experience from the moment we were welcomed in as family to our return to the hotel. I learnt lots about the Lovo traditional style of cooking, from grating coconut, plaiting fish into coconut leaves for cooking and setting up, preparing and then cooking with hot river stones. Lots of hands on experiences. This was the best activity I participated in while in Fiji. Highly recommended. Thank you family!

5.00Best tour ever. The family are beautiful, respectful, helpful and happy. The food was very fresh and the instruction clear. We had a really good time, learnt heaps and then ate the best meal. Suitable for all as we were all over 60 and 1 in a wheelie walker. Highly recommend this tour. Thank you to the Vavavi

5.00Our cooking class today was absolutely amazing! It was everything we hoped for from a cultural Fijian experience — personal, authentic, and full of warmth. We got to make a traditional lovo (similar to a hangi), which was such a unique and hands-on experience for us since none of us had ever done it before. The class is run by a lovely local family who made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. They had everything prepped and ready, guided us through each step, and shared stories about their culture and traditions along the way. You could really feel how much heart they put into what they do. The food was absolutely delicious, and the whole experience was unforgettable. We couldn’t fault a single thing — such a perfect way to learn more about Fijian culture and connect with the local community. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Fiji!

5.00Well worth it. A full day immersed in Fijian culture, food and ceremony. Vavavi is a short drive from Denarau Island or Nadi with A/C transfers included. Spend the day with the most delightful and engaging young Fijian family who welcome you and treat you as one of their family for the day. They take you through preparing a menu of a traditional Lovo Fijian feast that you get to enjoy for lunch. It includes traditional coconut openning and shaving and a trip to the local fresh produce market finishing up with a Kava ceremony. Each of the family have great knowledge and skills and are are only willing to help you and answer any questions. We left having a greater appreciation of Fijian culture and friends.
