Ride into the real Zimbabwe—far beyond the crowds of Victoria Falls. This small-group horseback village experience is not a safari and not a typical trail ride. It’s a rare chance to explore rural life from the saddle, following village paths through open fields, farmland, and working communities where daily life unfolds around you. After an early pick-up, you’ll arrive at Banko Farm for a warm welcome, a short safety briefing, and to meet your calm, well-cared-for horse. We ride with a welfare-first, ethical approach (including bitless horses), and we keep groups small (max 4 guests) so the pace stays relaxed and confidence-friendly. You’ll spend about 1–1.5 hours riding, with time built in for authentic cultural moments, beautiful scenery, and light refreshments before your transfer back to Victoria Falls. If you want an experience that feels personal, meaningful, and genuinely connected to place—this is it.

If you’re looking for something truly unforgettable in Zimbabwe, I can’t recommend Wild Bhiza highly enough. As first-time visitors to Victoria Falls, we weren’t quite sure what to expect and had quite limited time. We were a little wary of being swept into overly touristy activities that could end up feeling less than authentic. Also with a group of mixed riding abilities, we weren’t certain that everyone would feel comfortable or fully enjoy the experience. To anyone with similar concerns, I would strongly encourage you to prioritise a ride with Wild Bhiza! From start to finish, the experience felt personal, genuine, and immersive. We were completely absorbed in the landscape and given a unique perspective on the flora, fauna, and local community. It felt as though the curtain had been lifted, offering us a rare and authentic glimpse of Africa. It was much more than just a ride - it was an experience that has left a lasting impression on all of us. The horses were clearly beautifully cared for, well-suited to a range of abilities, responsive, and evidently much loved. This meant our ride felt both safe and exhilarating, tailored to each individual rider. Whether experienced, out of practice, or new to riding, the small scale and personal nature of the experience means it can be tailored to suit you or your group as much as possible. What truly sets Wild Bhiza apart, however, is Lisa and her team. Warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate, they went above and beyond to ensure the experience felt genuine and personal. An absolute must-do if you’re visiting. We are already dreaming of coming back!

An early morning pick up at Kabakwe Lodge and I was on my way to spend time in seeing the country on horseback. Getting there took approximately 40 minutes from where I was staying and even that, without the ride, was a different experience for me. I was lucky enough to be taken out for my tour by the owner, Lisa and her guide Steve, both of whom took good care of me reminding me at time to 'duck' when I wasn't paying close enough attention to the occasional low hanging branch on the trail. Being on horseback is such a great way to experience the countryside seeing more of our natural world and getting an idea of how the rural people live. Lisa is a very experienced horsewoman and my lovely horse Nova had me pegged from the get go, frequently indulging in some of the tasty morsels we passed on our way. I would highly recommend this to anyone who feels comfortable on horseback and would like to see more than the regular Victoria Falls tours that may be closer. Thanks so much for a wonderful morning Lisa and Steve.

Picked up from my hotel shortly after 6am. Definitely the right time of day to ride. Lisa was friendly, hugely informative and loves her animals. Horses were in super condition with friendly temperaments. The ride itself couldn't have been better. A really interesting insight into the lives of local people, their animals and environment with curious cattle, donkeys and goats approaching us. We were approached several times by locals who wanted to discuss animals with Lisa and it was obvious that she was held in high regard by her community. Whilst we enjoyed long trots and several canters I have no qualms in recommending riding with Wild Bhiza Stables to experienced and novice riders alike. This will forever remain one of my favorite riding adventures. Thanks Lisa!

From the very first moment, everything was perfect. I was picked up directly from my hotel, and during the drive to Chisuma, I was given fascinating insights into local life and the surrounding villages. Once there, I met the most adorable horses — calm, gentle, and extremely well cared for. They are perfectly suited for all riding levels. The ride is done in small groups (a maximum of four riders), which makes the experience intimate and enjoyable. For 2.5 hours, we rode through plantations and wandered through the typical village of Chisuma in total immersion — something that would be impossible to experience by car. Far from the touristy bustle of Victoria Falls, this outing gives you a true feeling of Zimbabwean rural life, in all its gentleness. Safety is clearly a top priority for the team — everything is thought through so that everyone feels comfortable and confident. And the welcome… what can I say — the owner is incredibly kind, attentive, and warm-hearted. The morning ended with a delicious local breakfast, enjoyed in the golden light of sunrise before heading back. A heartfelt thank you for this timeless moment. If you’re looking for something genuine, human, and deeply moving, don’t miss Wild Bhiza Stables. A rare gem.

Just returned from our riding tour. We are still overwhelmed from this amazing experience!! It was such a warm welcome and we felt safe and secure the whole time. Lisa and Amy and the entire staff made made this adventure unforgettable for us! Our tour went through the communities around the stables. We immersed ourselves into nature and local surroundings. A little break in between with snacks and drinks at the gorge with a stunning view made the morning just more perfect! All the animals at the farm are treated well and Amy and Lisa having a heart of gold! Thank you for this wonderful morning and keep your wonderful work going! Sabine (Mom😉) and Philipp

What a lovely way to spend the morning. A really nice way to see the local way of life in the villages. Lisa and Amie were super friendly and answered all our questions about life in Zimbabwe. The horses were so well treated and we all felt safe (me, my wife and son 8 years old). I would highly recommend this as an activity for anyone visiting.
