It must have been the Daily Telegraph that a couple of years ago mentioned a reason to visit each Greek island. For Crete, the main reason was the food. Locals couldn't agree more, as 90% of the Greek islands might have unparalleled beauty, but Crete offers the best quality of food on top of that as well. For this reason, a food tour in town would have been the very best idea.
This experience is going to give you the opportunity to taste an abundance of local products, from the greatest Cretan producers. From the classic Raki / Tsikoudia, to Cretan Bougatsa, the local varieties of local Cheese, olives, and even the very best sweets.
In order to make this tour unique, we have added a visit to a local herbs and products store, (which, among locals, is considered the most secret gem) and also a visit to the best traditional manufacturer of Cretan knives.

Chania Town
This experience is going to give you the opportunity to taste an abundance of local products, from the greatest Cretan producers. From the classic Raki / Tsikoudia, to Cretan Bougatsa, the local varieties of local Cheese, olives, and even the very best sweets. In order to make this tour unique, we have added a visit to a local herbs and products store, (which, among locals, is considered the most secret gem) and also a visit to the best traditional manufacturer of Cretan knives. We visit both the modern and the old town. We get to see on our way, the Market (which is under reconstruction) the charming narrow streets of the old town and the beauty of the Venetian Port. (this tour is not provided by a licensed guide).

Plenty of small (or bigger) snacks are included in this small tour. Cheese, Olives, Bougatsa, Loukoumades, kalitsounia and some other small sized snacks (in the second tour, pita gyros as well).

His passion for Cretan cuisine was unmatched and we appreciated the variety of cheeses, pastries, coffee, and the herbal shop visit that we were able to visit. He was well versed in the history behind each tasting and provided interesting information about Chania and the surrounding areas along the way, and followed up with more recommendations for us afterward. 5.00Kristos did an amazing job accommodating our last minute same day reservation as well as our food allergies. He was very knowledgeable about both the food we ate as well as the local history. He was professional as well as personable. Come hungry, way more food than we could possibly eat. We really enjoyed the tasting and variety of foods in Chania. We enjoyed walking through the quaint and historical city. Highly recommend this tour.

5.00My husband and I booked a private food tour with Christos and it was excellent. We got an opportunity to taste some of the delicious foods that Chania is famous for. We left full and also learned a lot about Chania. Christos was an amazing guide and we enjoyed so much getting to know him. He took us to watch knives being made by hand and to a small herbal store where we were taught about plants and herbal remedies. He took up to streets in the old town that we would never have found on our own. He was so kind and easy to chat with and made certain that we were having the best time and enjoying every moment. He even made reservations for us for dinner that night at his favorite restaurant. He has been a great resource for other questions and recommendations for the remainder of trip.
