It must have been the Daily Telegraph that a couple of years ago mentioned a reason to visit each Greek island. For Crete, the main reason was the food. Locals couldn't agree more, as 90% of the Greek islands might have unparalleled beauty, but Crete offers the best quality of food on top of that as well. For this reason, a food tour in town would have been the very best idea.
This experience is going to give you the opportunity to taste an abundance of local products, from the greatest Cretan producers. From the classic Raki / Tsikoudia, to Cretan Bougatsa, the local varieties of local Cheese, olives, and even the very best sweets.
In order to make this tour unique, we have added a visit to a local herbs and products store, (which, among locals, is considered the most secret gem) and also a visit to the best traditional manufacturer of Cretan knives.
In a few words, if someone is in Crete in order to experience its authenticity, this tour is exactly what they need.

We drove into town from our hotel and found several parking lots already full so we were running late for the tour, but our guide was gracious enough to wait for us. We were guided to several stops with delicious and generous portions at each one. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and took us to some spots that we would never have found otherwise. Thanks for a great tour!

The Chania Walking Food Tour was, without a doubt, the highlight of our trip to Crete. From the moment we started, it felt less like a tour and more like an intimate culinary journey hosted by our local resident Christian. Mention the Guide (by Name, if possible): Introduce the superior guide early on. The Food, Stops, and Atmosphere (Setting the Scene) Describe the culinary and local immersion aspects of the tour. What made the food stops authentic and memorable? Authenticity: Did the tour go beyond tourist traps? (e.g., visiting the Municipal Market, hidden local tavernas, or specialty shops). This was a tour of passion by Christian, and not a walk through tourist traps and common stops. He took us to hidden gems like the Herbs and Spices at Psarros, the cheese stop at Patsouros and the Bougatsa at Lordanas. While the food was exceptional the star of the tour was Christian. His knowledge went beyond just the food. He took us on a tour of Chania's history and offered historical context about the Old Venetian Harbour. He was charismatic, warm, funny, or went out of his way to make everyone feel included. Christian seemed to have personal connections at each stop, making us feel like honored guests, not just tourists. Do yourself a favor and book this tour, arrive hungry—you'll leave feeling full, informed, and deeply appreciative of Cretan hospitality.

This is an excellent way to see Chania and experience its culinary delights. Christos was very welcoming and made sure that everyone in the group was having a great time. We visited the authentic spots and weaved through the tourists to the stunning heart of the old town. Bougatsa like you've never tasted, fresh pita gyros and, of course, freddo espressos left us with full bellies and the motivation to keep walking!

Amazing tour! Would do again in a heartbeat. Loved the food and the little side tour we did walking through a street you would easily miss.
