If experience, intelligence and depth in historical facts were a person, they would be Claudette. Her narration of historical events is very satisfying and captivating.

My husband and I booked this tour on our first trip to Barbados because we wanted to truly understand the island—its people, culture, and history—and it exceeded all expectations. Claudette was fantastic: incredibly knowledgeable, warm, welcoming, and thoroughly professional! Our tour group was about 10 people, spanning a wide range of ages and backgrounds (from 20-somethings to retirees, and from North America, Europe, and Africa). Claudette guided us through Barbados’ pre-colonial, colonial, and post-independence history. She is a true historian: someone who is not just interested in historical information but also in how it affects the world we live in now. Barbados is beautiful, and the culture is vibrant—but without understanding the deeper history, you’re missing a huge part of the experience. This tour ties it all together in a meaningful and memorable way. Highly recommend—book it and enjoy!

We had such a great tour of Bridgetown with Claudette. She’s a historian and an absolute fountain of knowledge, but also a fantastic storyteller of Barbados' history— as history lovers, it felt like a perfect match for us. Our warmest recommendation: yes, the beaches are magical and it’s hard to leave them, but it’s absolutely worth spending a morning with Claudette to to understand (and admire) Barbados even more!

A wonderful fascinating historical walking tour around Bridgetown with Claudette a passionate local historian. What Claudette doesn't know isn't worth knowing and her enthusiasm is infectious! The pace is gentle and suitable for all, with regular stops to appreciate and absorb the history of where you are. Claudette supplies a bottle of iced water at the begining and then treats you to some local delicacies enroute.

We thouroghly enjoyed our walking tour though the historical Bridgetown. Claudette has a huge historical knowledge of her hometown which she presents with enthusiasm giving a wonderful insight into the island's history, challenges and achievements. In adittion to that she brought us each a bottle of iced water which we were very grateful for and treated us to some local produce and drinks on the tour. The whole expreience was perfect and I can't recomend it enough. Thank you Claudette

Immensely enjoyable, close-up introduction to Bridgetown's history and population. Claudette started us off with introductions, creating a cohesive and friendly international group. I was awed by her encyclopedic knowledge as a trained historian, plus her passionate opinions and connection to her country. The walking pace and distance were easy but every step counted--the shady spots appreciated. We zoomed from big picture to small details (the cannons on street corners). Thank you Claudette and best wishes!

Really knowledgeable guide, we learned so much about Bridgetown and Barbados. The pace was ideal and the length of the tour was perfect.

Our guide was friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable. The tour helpfully included a bottle of water and some local pastries and fruit juice drinks were provided at the end of the tour. However, we didn’t walk very far….more a talking tour than a walking tour. Although the guide promised not to bombard us with dates, there so many that eventually I just let them wash over me. We started the tour sitting on the steps in Independence Square to listen to an ‘introduction’ to the history of Barbados. After 30 minutes we’d only got as far as 1700 and hadn’t moved. After 45 minutes we’d got as far the opposite side of the square. After that we began to move on and explore some of the other city centre streets and buildings and the tour became more interesting.
