Went a couple weeks back with some friends on this walking tour of Bridgetown. Our guide, Claudette, was EXCEPTIONAL. She is a historian who clearly loves her country, loves the history, loves keeping up on the history, and, above all, is committed to her craft. She was a font of knowledge and she is an excellent story teller. Not only did she share the history of Barbados, but she deftly wove in current events and where/how Barbados is situated in today's world. We were treated to some (unexpected) goodies, including some fresh juices at the end which were delicious. If you're in Barbados and want a dose of culture and history, this is well worth your time. You'll be on your feet for a few hours, so dress accordingly. And above all, make sure you get Claudette - she is a gem.

Our guide Claudette was very friendly and professional. We enjoyed hearing the history of Barbados and seeing the main sites of Bridgetown. Claudette answered all of our questions patiently fortunately we were a small group of 5 adults so she didn’t have too many to contend with. I would definitely recommend this walking tour. The meat pastry (sausage roll) and very chilled fruit juice were much appreciated and a very nice touch.

Charlotte was so informative and clearly proud of her country and its history. As a historian who continues to research, read and learn herself, she taught us so much and was great at answering questions in a fun and relaxed manner. The water, juice and local snacks were a nice touch! My daughter is here in Barbados on a semester abroad and I think all international students should be required (or at least encouraged!) to take this tour.

What a brilliant day learning so much interesting history and insights into the Bajan life and culture. I loved the sculptures in hero’s square and the plaques with reverence for the people who suffered so far from their homelands.

Our tour guide was Zachary and he was a wealth of knowledge and a joy to be around. It is flat walking so not strenuous walking and very interesting. It was hot and raining a bit off and on but go early as you can so it’s not too crazy! He also gave us a great lunch recommendation that was exactly what I was looking for.

Claudette makes history come alive! With an in depth "calendar of events" at the start of the tour, we understood the breadth of time to be covered and the peoples and their place in Barbados in those times. All told in the comfortable shade near the statue of Errol Walton Barrow. Then we moved out and discussed all sorts of historic sites throughout downtown Bridgetown including various individual players and their roles. Some of the tour was given in monologues from the point of view of the historic individual which added a personalized touch. She also gave us a lot of tidbits that I didn't get doing other tours of Bridgetown with various people on island--particularly facts surrounding the Jewish synagogue and burial ground, and the cannons used as bollards to protect the buildings! So much of this was absolutely amazing, and all told in a friendly engaging style with the best smile on island! Thank you Claudette!

We could not have been happier with this tour. Claudette is a fountain of information. Go on any tour she is narrating! You won’t regret it. It was a privilege to have such a well regarded historian showing us the landmarks and carefully taking us through the centuries. We asked questions and were engaged throughout. Thank you for sharing your beautiful island’s history with us.
