What To Expect

Our tour departs from Kinloch, a short 20 min drive from Taupō. Based in the Western Bays of the Lake our skipper will take you to discover the plummeting rock faces, formations and ravines that are only accessible by boat.

Nose up close to the base of these magnificent falls. If your brave enough, join other travelers on the nose of the boat to enjoy the cool refreshing water.

Ian, the tour operator is passionate about the Western Bays of Lake Taupo. Our tour encompassed beautiful scenery sampling nature at first hand with magnificent waterfalls. The tour is approximately two hours and we would highly recommend as part of your Taupo experience.

Firstly we had a perfect picture postcard day. When we arrived, we found Ian who after 30 seconds with him, we knew we were in for a treat. We were very fortunate to have Ian to ourselves for this tour. He told us that he prefers small groups and his boat is certainly not for large groups. Ian was so passionate and knowledgeable about the area and we got close to beautiful waterfalls and the most imposing cliff faces. After pulling into a beach, we hiked up to the top of a waterfall which was both easy and magical. Overall we would highly recommend this tour or one of Ian’s longer tours which we hope to do one day in the future. Ian really made the tour one to remember.

Get away from the crowds and discover a hidden and unspoiled paradise with a gent of a guide! Our evening boat ride was a highlight of our North Island itinerary. A gem of an experience. From start to finish Ian made us at ease and we wished we had done the longer trip!! If you like being on smaller boats and New Zealand away from the well trodden tourist trail this is for you!
