These wine cellars are really magical indeed. They look like the hobbit's burrows from the Shire from the Lord of the Rings movie.

We have been in Budapest five times over last 10 years and had 2-3 wine tours each time. Miki is the most knowledgable wine guide we have ever had. He took our group to two unbelievable wineries definitely off the beaten path. Over 200 family owned wineries built into 1830 hillsides. Award winning rose’s and other Hungarian reds and shites

Unique and charming wine tasting made even more magical by a light dusting of snow the day prior to our tour. Felt like stepping back in time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable with a good sense of humour and the wine was amazing! Definitely recommend.

We were a group of 8 friends who had a couple days in Budapest before the start of our Viking Danube cruise. This fit our schedule and sounded fun. Boy, did we hit the jackpot. First, the wine cellars. OMG, who knew? We had no idea this place or anything like it existed. These very historic, family owned burrows hidden in the countryside. Amazing! Second, our guide Micki. He was so knowledgeable, interesting and passionate about it. We learned so much about wine making in Hungary and in general. Third, the wines. A lovely selection that really highlighted their differences. Fourth, the snack. We had already fallen in love with Hungarian bread and this was no exception. With the specialty lard spread that made it extra special. Of all the tours we took this trip both through Viking and others, this was the best!!

That it was fabulous, Miki was great and very accommodating. He changed our pick up place for us and dropped us off at the pier after the tour since we were going onto a Viking cruise. I would totally recommend this wine tour

Had a very good wine trip with Miki. Miki was such a nice guy and full of information on Hungarian wines. It was great to get into the Hungarian countryside to try local wines and learn the history. The tasting came with bread, cheeses and charcuterie. This complimented the tasting well. If you like wine I would recommend this experience.

This was a wonderful experience and day! Micki is a delight and knows everything there is to know about Hungarian wine! Getting out of the hustle and bustle of Budapest and finding myself in a truly remote and mystical part of the world trying wines and authentic Hungarian snacks was purely magical!! Would highly recommend this 🍷

Miki is a very special guy, wine journalist and entrepreneur. He communicated with us weeks prior to our tour; provided gluten free bread and took us on an unforgettable wine journey to the wine village of Páty. We learned and tasted the incredible wines of Hungary, that are much more than tokaji. He introduced us to Bridget Bernard a local winemaker continuing her family’s tradition of growing and making wine. We were also lucky enough to visit his wine bar, “Wine the Gap”. While in Budapest if you don’t have time for a tour definitely stop by and see Miki. He started as a guide and ended up being a friend!

Overall a fantastic experience, Miki our very experienced wine educator drove us out to small wine cellars about 40 mins from the center of Budapest. We dropped down into a lower level and drive along small country roads to our stop, a beautiful area lined with small family wine cellars, we stopped at two enjoying a selection of Whites, Rose and Reds, the second coming with some cheeses, bread and meats. The group size was small eight people from around the world and Miki, had us very focused as he went through the wines and the regions plus the history of Hungarian wine.
