Discover the beauty of Korean calligraphy by creating your own scroll in Insadong. In this experience, you will choose a meaningful Korean word or phrase and learn how to write it with traditional brushes and ink.
This workshop is designed for those who want more than a souvenir — it is a calm, thoughtful experience guided by a Korean calligraphy artist, with time to understand the meaning behind each stroke.
Classes are kept small for personal attention, and each scroll is handwritten and handmade during the session.
Because of the focused nature of the experience, sessions are offered with limited availability and are only available in Insadong.

What To Expect
Hello, I'm Jeongju Welcome to my calligraphy workshop, where you'll discover more than just beautiful writing—you'll experience the meditative joy of traditional Korean brush calligraphy. This peaceful activity offers a chance to slow down, relax your mind, and immerse yourself in Korean culture. I'll guide you through the process, introducing you to traditional calligraphy materials and teaching you mindful brush techniques. You'll start with practice sessions focusing on basic strokes and Hangul characters. Then, you'll practice your names in 2 versions in writing. Next you can practice your own personalized scroll with a meaningful message. At last you are going to create your your own personalized scroll in Hangul. To add an authentic touch, you can choose to embellish your work with a traditional stamp that I'll provide. When you return home, your handcrafted Hangul calligraphy scroll will serve as a unique reminder of your Seoul experience. This scroll is perfect for traveling If you're interested in exploring more of Korean traditional culture, I welcome you to visit my studio in Insa-dong. If your preferred dates aren't available, please don't hesitate to contact me.

5.00I did the calligraphy scroll workshop with Jeongju. She was so kind and helpful and explained the history of calligraphy, explained the consonants and vowels and taught us how to write our names and the message of our choice on our scroll. We had plenty of practice before doing the actual scroll so I felt really confident and was so pleased with the result. Thank you so much Jeongju

1.00I gave the experience a 0 because of inadequate enforcement of smoking rules by staff and management. I complained several times and told them I had COPD. The smoking rules are on the pool rules and posted in areas but they continued to provide them with ashtrays. The odd time they would tell someone no smoking then told me to do it. That caused a confrontation with a drunk that cursed and yelled at me. One incident went really bad when after 1 hour of the complaint an obnoxious guest and dangling his cigarette was finally told he couldn't smoke . When they took his ashtray away he got up and fell on several tables and chairs. We seen him in the buffet the next morning and his left eyes was so swollen 9and completely closed. His head was all bandages up. It was a mess. This never should of happened. I'm sure I'm not allowed to post the picture on here. There was another person in our party that was on a puffer. It took me 4 days after the trip to recove all the smoke I inhaled. There were people even smoking cigars. None of us will ever go to this resort again and people need to be aware of the smoking. 5.00Stayed 2 Nights @ Wyndham Fremont off Warm Springs Blvd. The room was clean and comfortable. Best sleep I had in a while. I would recommend staying here. The manager and staff were very helpful.
